Dragons and middle grade are a combination that was always going to grab my attention. Though when I requested the book I didn’t realize this was going to be a chapter book which isn’t nessecarily what I would normally pick up.
In the last few years one of my absolute favorite books has been Foundryside. So it is with a fondness and a bit of sadness that I read this book, knowing I had to say goodbye to this world and characters. I loved Foundryside and Shorefall and so it was hard for this book to live up to that. It didn’t. Not quite. But it is still a good conclusion to this trilogy.
The Thief Who Sang Storms follows 13 year old Linnet who has been living in the swamp for the last 3 years. Ever since the flood and the death of the queens the island has been divided. The alkonosts, the bird people, are being prosecuted for using their singing magic. When Linnet’s father gets taken she is determined to free him.

All in all Judgement Day was a fun and solid sequel to May Day, that solidifies the characters and a bigger plot that is coming.
Reaper of Souls continues a few weeks after Kingdom of Souls. Arrah struggles to find her place back in the city. And soon she has to leave yet again to see if she can find the last of her parent’s people.
