+ I don’t mind a bit of sexual content in my books. Just not the whole book.

Target Groups

I read and review Young Adult and Adult very often. Middle Grade is one that I also enjoy. When it comes to New Adult I haven’t quite found a lot of fantasy in this target group but it certainly isn’t a reason for me to decline a request. I do not review picture books or anything else that falls below middle grade. While I do have a young son this blog isn’t here to focus on those kind of books.

Which Languages Do I Accept?

As this blog is in English I of course accept books in English. However I am Dutch and as such I am always open to review requests from Dutch and Belgian authors.

Which Format Do I Read In?

I prefer to read physical books but I am perfectly okay with accepting ebooks. I own a sony e reader and not a kindle so giving me ebooks through Amazon I will not accept. If you do send an ebook I prefer tem in Epub format.

Where Will I Post My Review

I will post my review on my blog, Goodreads and The StoryGraph if your book is on there. It is also possible for me to review your book on Book Depository and Barnes and Noble if you wish. If you are a Dutch or Belgian author I can leave a review on bol.com. If you would like me to review your book somewhere specific please mention this in your request.

As an international reviewer Amazon has made it very hard for me to leave a review there. As in impossible. If this is what you are primary looking for I am not the book blogger to request a review from.

Time Frame

Once you have emailed me I will reply within five-eight days to your review request. If I don’t reply at all feel free to send me a reminder. Sometimes things slip through.

If I accept than I will try to read your book.  My reviews will be posted two weeks before release date when possible. If for some reason I can’t comply with this time frame I will send you an email to let you know. Once the review is posted I will contact you through email with all the links.

Adding that as of 2022 it is very hard to get a book reviewed before release date because I am swamped by review requests and life dealings. If you don’t mind me taking some time feel free to send me a request though.

What Should You Include in Your Review Request!

One of the important things I find is that you refer to me as a person. My name (which is Annemieke) is sometimes left out. If you are writing a request to me, don’t multitask and send the exact same request to other bloggers with Hi blogger(s). It turns me of right away.

What I like to see in a request beyond that is the title and synopsis. Adding in the release date and if you need me to read this within a shorter time frame than I have mentioned above are also good bits to add to your request. Lastly if you really want to shine convince me as to why I should be reading your book.

I Post Negative Reviews

I always start my reviews with ‘thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy in exchange for an honest review’.  I stand by that. My reviews will always be honest. And my blog will always be honest. If I accept books for review through my blog they will appear on my blog. For that reason I also will post negative reviews. However I do not post DNF+ reviews. I will not hold my review back if you request this of me. So please be aware that if you request me to review your book, I will be voicing my opinion when it is positive but also when it is negative. If you find this hard than please do not request a review from me.
