Songs That I Associate with the Magical | #wyrdandwonder Fantastic Five

It is the second Sunday and that means we are doing another Fantastic Five post. This was just one of those random ideas that popped up for us. We always say all media goes for Wyrd and Wonder. So why not share some songs with each other that we associate with fantasy and magic.

I might not keep this to five but that is fine. Gotta live on the wild side…

We are the heroes of our time

It might not surprise you that I am starting this list with an old Eurivison winner for the day after the 2023 Eurovision final. I fell in love with this song right away and I have always associated it as an anthem for all those heroes that we read about daily.

Desolation Come Upon the Sky

This song by Ed Sheeran will probably not be a surprise either as it is one of the songs for the soundtrack of The Hobbit movie. But this is one that I always remember so well unlike other soundtrack songs. I always get goose bumps with this one. I always think I know the words but then I never do haha.

‘Cause you are the tin man

This is one of my all time favorites. The mood of the music and then the lyrics that refer to a tin man and vanish works so well for many romance relationships in the fantasies that I have read. But mostly I just love the mood of the music.

I’m slowly drifting away

Another all time favorite that always works for me. The instrumental music in here has such an awesome mood and I love how the lyrics work for some of our fantasy heroes who are fighting with themselves. Especially if they might have some darkness in them. 😉

Broken swords and dragon bones

I just recently discovered this song and band. Be sure to check them out.

Howling ghosts, they reappear

This is also a lot of fun for us to watch as the whole video is magical. I feel this has a very positive mood to it.

‘Cause everything is never as it seems

Another more familiar one. This one has always felt so wonderfully whimsical to me.
