On occasion it is good to look back at previous posts we have done. To reflect, to go in a different direction or to redo the topic. Which is why today we have rewind as a topic for Top Ten Tuesday (as always hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl).
I decided to look back at a post where I listed a backlist of scifi books in 2018 and see what I have actually read from it.
You can find the original post here.

Well I guess 3 out of 10 isn’t as spectaculary bad as I thought it was going to be. Ancillary Justice and The Rise and Fall of DODO were great books. Binti wasn’t really my thing.
As for the other books, I have Avalon and Dirk Gently’s on my shelves to read. But I don’t think I’m as interested in still reading Under the Never Sky, The City and the City, Blood Red Road, Gemina and Unearthed. Sometimes things just change over the years and it has been 4,5 year since I wrote that post.
I agree that our bookish tastes can evolve over time and so a book we had to have is no longer as enticing as it once was.

Yes and so many new books keep coming out so priorities change haha.

Great idea for the post! 3 out if 10 isn’t too bad, I think mine would be worse if I looked back! XD

I actually really enjoyed the whole Illuminae series, but they are very much written for a younger audience.

I really liked Iluminae, I think I even rated it 5 stars at the time. But just that book was enough for me I guess.

I also thought of doing something like looking back at all my previous TTT’s to see how many of those books I still haven’t read….
Mine will be a disaster!! I hope you will eventually get to all the books on your list.

I don’t even want to look further back 😉
But yeah I do hope I’ll get to the books from this list that I still want to read.

I’m terrible at reading books I say I will, haha! 😂 Three’s not bad! I loved Gemina and I hope you do too whenever you get around to reading it. Binti is also on my TBR and I guess I’ll get to it one day!

Posts like this are fun to see because those TBRs get long. I owned Gemina in hardback, but I ended up listening to it to save me some time and it was a great experience.

TBR’s get way too long 😉

3 out of 10 isn’t bad at all, especially considering that your tastes have changed and most of the remaining ones aren’t interesting to you any longer. DIRK GENTLY is on my TBR list, too. Hopefully when we get around to reading that one, we’ll both enjoy it!

I agree that 3 of 10 isn’t bad! It is good to look back and evaluate if you still want to read books on your tbr. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

3 out of 10 indeed isn’t bad at all! And like you say, reading tastes change and that’s ompletely okay 🙂 I still want to give Gemina a try, but it’s also not what I want to be reading right now, so maybe someday…

Maybe it it appears in my library or if it gets translated (and then appears in my library) I might still give it a chance. But at this point it is not something I want to give money too.

I am always so scared to look back at these. I’m terrible at keeping TBRs. My secret lately has been adding arcs. haha! This way, I get some of them read. My reading has changed so much from even two years ago, I can’t imagine any longer!

Haha yes I’ve been adding more arcs since when I made these in 2018. I try to have about half arcs.

It’s definitely good to recognise that our tastes change and you may not be interested in the same books as you were five years ago!
