Am I a Book Snob? | Book Tag

If there is one thing that always annoys me, are the book snobs. Those that think they do reading the right way and everyone else’s way is wrong. Or those that think that literature is the only good reading. Or those that look down on other genres, etc. So I dont nessecarily consider myself a book snob in that way.

But I did get tagged for The Book Snob Tag by Emma from Turn Another Page! So we will see if I am a book snob in the way this tag means it.

Adaptation Snob: Do you always read the book before seeing the movie?

No I don’t. I used to want to but it rarely works out that way. And sometimes the adaptation is a lot more interesting than the actual book. Looking at you Shannara Chronicles. And it’s okay. There is no right or wrong way.

Format Snob: You can only choose one format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which do you choose: physical books, Ebooks or audiobooks?

Hmm I’d still choose physical books. I’m a book collector so I have quite a few book shelves filled. I do however read more ebooks these days. I used to only read physical books. I was that snob, lol.

Ship Snob: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

I am married to a non-reader. Reading was always hard for him. He might have undiagnosed dyslexia. We’ve tried reading Harry Potter together but I read so much faster than him and he finds that demotivating.

Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again in your life, which do you ditch?

Hmm years ago I would have said romance but in recent years I’ve found some that I really like so I think I’ll go with horror. I only really like it in combo with fantasy.

Uber Genre Snob: you can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life, which genre do you choose?

I mostly read fantasy anyway so that isn’t a hard choice for me. I would miss sci-fi though.

Community Snob: which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

I think that depends on which side of the community you reside at. If you are at the romance side that you feel that romance genre receives the most snobbery and so on.

Snobbery Recipient: Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?

I once had someone comment on my book shelves.’Oh you read fantasy…so where is Stephen King?’ Because clearly King is a must have on your shelf and the one book was not enough…

  1. Wait. Someone said that because you read fantasy you had to have Stephen King books? I’m sorry, but most of his books fall under horror as far as I am aware, and so they’re not ones I’ll be reading. (I agree with you; if I couldn’t read from one genre ever again, it would be horror.)
