During May’s Wyrd and Wonder I changed the topics for Top Ten Tuesday (as always hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) quite a few times. This topic was one of the ones that was on the schedule then but I did something else for Wyrd and Wonder. As I wasn’t feeling this week’s topic of books I wished had an epilogue, I decided to go back to that one.
And of course I have plenty of books to fit this prompt because this fits me to a T. Excitingly buying books and then not reading them.
Redemptor (Raybearer 2) by Jordan Ifueko
I really loved Raybearer when I read it so I went out and bought the sequel on release day. And then never read it…
A Lesson in Vengeance by Victioria Lee
I really liked the authors other duology so I was really excited for this one.
Black Water Sister by Zen Cho
Big fan of Zen Cho here and I even had an egalley. But last year was a mess around that time and I could not keep up in anyway.
Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
Another excitement but dropped on the pile.
Stormsong (The Kingston Cycle 2) by C.L. Polk
I loved Witchmark and I think that is why I have been putting this off. With other characters it can turn very differently
The Towers of Nero (The Trialls of Apollo 5) by Rick Riordan
An end of an era.
Year One (Chronicles of the One 1) by Nora Roberts
I am so scared I will not like this.
The Bone Witch (The Bone Witch 1) by Rin Chupeco
Another case of being scared I will not like it.
Shadowcaster (Shattered Realms 2) by Cinda Williams Chima
I loved the pre series Seven Realms so I was super excited for this one. But I was somewhat hesitant for the second book and then the covers changed and meh.
Child of a Hidden Sea (Hidden Sea Tales 1) by A.M. Dellamonica
I got this after liking another book by this author but then never made the time.
Interesting list. You picked a great substitute prompt. I enjoyed A Lesson in Vengeance, as well as Year One (The Chronicle of the One series) and The Bone Witch entire series. And I hope you get to reading them eventually and enjoy them too.

Epilogues weren’t working for me either, so I hear you. I have only read Year One from your list, can’t say I’m a huge fan, but it was entertaining. And so good to see Zen Cho on your list, I hope you start off there first! Very unique writing style and themes.

I’m a big fan of Zen Cho. I’ve read a lot of her other work 🙂

I was so torn when I got The Tower of Nero. I wanted to know what happened. But knowing it was the last glimpse into that world, I didn’t want to read it because, like you said, it’s the end of an era. In the end, I read it a few months after I got it. While the ending was what we all expected, I’m not sure it’s what we all wanted. Does that make sense?

Yes totally my feeling. I will get to it but I’m just not quite ready yet.
And that does make sense.

Great list! I really enjoyed Cinderella is Dead, and I’ve got Redemptor and Year 1 on my TBR. I hope you really enjoy all of these when you do read them.

I read the Bone Witch a couple years ago and ultimately it didn’t really vibe with me. I think I gave it maybe 3 stars? I can’t remember.

I know it was a book that you either loved or hated it. But most of my friends loved it so I’m going to take my chance with it 🙂

I feel your pain! I hate when I have books sitting that I wanted to read, but either can’t find the time or want to dive in when I was so sure I would read them right away.

It is the pain of being a reader. Haha

I also haven’t read the Shattered Realms series yet, even if I loved the Seven Realms series so much. And The Bone Witch is also on my TBR still. We’ll get there some day 🙂

I also picked a substitute prompt this week. I was so excited about the Shattered Realms series too. I have, I think, two of the books and I still haven’t read either of them, lol. I hope you enjoy all of these when you do finally get to them.

I’m so behind on the Trials of Apollo, I’ve only read up to Book 3. To be honest, I feel like I’ve kind of outgrown Rick Riordan’s books, so I don’t know if I will finish the series or not, I feel like I want to, in order to get closure on the Camp Half-Blood world, but I generally haven’t enjoyed ToA as much as any of the other Camp Half-Blood series and I don’t want to push myself to finish the series if I’m not going to enjoy it. I read Cinderella Is Dead when it came out a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. A Lesson In Vengeance would be one for me too, I bought it when it came out in February….still haven’t read it. I also went on a different track with this week’s topic, I did a Pride Month themed one instead as I’m also not a big epilogue person.

You never should finish a series you don’t want to. 🙂

I know but I don’t like leaving things uncompleted! It’s much easier if I decide after book 1 that I’m not going to finish, then I don’t feel so bad.

Black Water Sister? I am also guilty of not picking this one up. I was going to try to fit it in this month, but I am reading really slowing this month for some reason. I hope you get to pick some of these up soon.

From your list, Black Water Sister and Cinderella Is Dead are also books that I was excited for and still haven’t read! Though I have recently picked up Stormsong, because I am determined to finish the Kingston Cycle before summer is over.

Ooit waarschijnlijk haha.
