Book Haul 70 | 3rd Haul of the Year

It has been 2 month since my last book haul. It has been that way for a while. I still get books but not as much as a few years ago. I know for some this is quite a lot but not for me. At least not in comparison.

A Natural History of Dragons (The Memoirs of Lady Trent 1) by Marie Brenna
She Who Became the Sun (The Radiant Emperor 1) by Shelley Parker-Chan
The Hunger of the Gods (Bloodsworn Saga 2) by John Gwynne = READ

You can see why I needed this stack right? I have been eyeing A Natural History of Dragons for years and I finally found it in the store near me. I’ve only heard great things about She Who Became The Sun. And the Hunger of the Gods was a must as The Shadow of the Gods was one of my favorite reads last year.

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows 2) by Leigh Bardugo = READ
I finally got a collectors edition of one of the six of crows books. It was damaged on the inside (a rip in one page) and so it was 50%. I couldn’t leave at that.

We Hunt the Flame (Sands of Arawiya 1) by Hafsah Faizal
I had meant to pick this up around release but never got around to it. A Dutch blogger was selling a few of her books and I bought it then.

The House with Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson
Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray

These were my Mothers day gifts.

Browl Girl Magic by Dalila Hermans. Illustrated by Fatinha Ramos
From a Belgian writer who was born in Rwanda, about how hard it is to grow up in the west as a black girl. The text in the picture book is in Dutch and English. I thought it was a good book for my collection but also to introduce this topic to Merijn.

The Seer’s Promonition (Bundle book 1&2) by Ursula Visser
I pre ordered this bundle of two short stories by Ursula Visser. I want to read more by Dutch authors, especially when they write in English. And Ursula always has something cute with her book releases.

These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights 1) by Chloe Gong
Our Violent Ends (These Violent Delights 2) by Chloe Gong

I got these for myself to make me feel better when I saw the boxset was on sale.

Ebooks

A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians (The Shadow Histories 1) by H.G. Parry
A Radical Act of Free Magic (The Shadow Histories 2) by H.G. Parry
Of Dragons Feasts and Murders (Dragons and Blades 1) by Aliette de Bodard = READ

Review Copies

The Grief of Stones (The Cemeteries of Almelo 2) by Katherine Addison
Seasonal Fears (Alchemical Journeys 2) by Seanan McGuire = READ
A Half-Built Garden by Ruthanna Emrys
Locklands (The Founders 3) by Robert Jackson Bennett
Silk Hills by Ryan Ferrier
For the Throne (Wildwoods 2) by Hannah F. Whitten
Of Charms, Ghosts and Grievances (Dragons and Blade 2) by Aliette de Bodard = READ

A Darkness at the Door (Dauntless Path 3) by Intisar Khanani

  1. Wat een mooie aanwinsten. Hier ligt het aantal nieuwe boeken ook opmerkelijk lager dan vroeger. In 2020 is daar precies verandering in gekomen. Het is geen bewuste keuze om minder boeken te willen kopen of zo maar het is wel echt een opvallend verschil in aantal.

  3. I’ve been curious about The Natural History of Dragons for a long time. The reviews seem to be a mixed bag, so I will have an eye out for your review. 🐉

I put Brown Girl Magic on my Goodreads children’s shelf. 📚

I’m also looking forward to your thoughts on A Darkness at the Door. The sex talk stuff got a little weird. 😅
