Wrap Up

Dancing out of April 2022

April was a month full of stress. So much stress for everything that I didn’t keep track of everything I would otherwise do. You’ll see that down below. But it is what it is. May will be another busy month.

The Numbers

In January I read a total of 6 books which makes the total of 2021 36 books read.
Of the 6 books 4 books were fantasy, 1 book was contemporary and 1 book was sci-fi .
The rating average of this month was 3,58 stars.

  1. Library of the Dead (Edinburgh Nights 1) by T.L. Huchu | 3,5 stars
  2. Never and Forever (Wizards of Once 4) by Cressida Cowell | 3,5 stars
  3. Our Lady of Mysterious Ailments (Edingburgh Nights 2) by T.L Huchu | ARC | 3,5 stars
  4. My Mechanical Romance by Alexene Farol Follmuth | ARC | 4 stars
  5. The Dragon Universe by various | ARC | 3 stars
  6. Middlegame (Alchemic Journeys 1) by Seanan McGuire | 4 stars

⌘ So April was another hard month. As mentioned before there have been some health scares in my family. My dad has cancer. And because his blood work was pretty bad and the cancer was malignant the expectations were that he was going to be filled up to his arm pitts in cancer. Fortunately on the 19th we got the results back of the scans. They showed it was only the prostate and one lymph node. Which was a relief. I mean it is still crap but not as badly crap as was expected so yeah.

⌘ But the waiting and expectations made this a pretty hard month. I’ve been so tired and stressed and it is hard to focus on anything. Which is why my reading was not as great as I wanted it to be.

⌘ Merijn’s May vacation started at the end of April. We went to my parents for that. Normally he’d be there alone for a week but considering the above I stayed this week. We did fun things like the beach but it was also hard at times.

Ghosts (BBC) | Season 1 | Ep 1 to 6 | Complete
They started showing this on BBC first and I wasn’t so sure at first but I ended up loving it. It is such a typical show with bad british humor and I loved every minute of it. I was sad there were only 6 episodes being showed and we didn’t get the next few seasons right away.

Wisting | Season 1 | Ep 1 to 7
A Norse detective series that has about a killer every 5 episodes. Since the first bit was wrapped up I found it harder to make time to watch the remainder of the season (total of 10 episodes). I was pretty invested in that story line and not so much in this second one.

Doctor Who: Legend of the Sea Devils
It was my first time seeing doctor who with Whitaker. To be honest I rarely watch the show these days but catch the specials here and there. I thought it was okay. A little rushed maybe.

The Lion King (Animation) | Rewatch

The Owl House | Season 1 | Ep 11 to 19 | Complete
They finally showed the second half of the first season here. It had been a year or so. Merijn is totally in love with the owl lady as he calls it so yeay for that. I love Amity’s crush on Luz and I know that in season 2 that will be developed more.

Blogs

⌘ Lynn from WanderingLynn has been counting down with us for Wyrd and Wonder. First she has shared what books she’s read since the last W&W. Then her top 5 Standalone Fantasy Reads. Her top 5 Forest Fantasy Reads. Her fourth post was on top 5 Fantasy Subgenres. And in the last countdown she shared her W&W TBR.
⌘ Jess from Jessticulates talk about why her sexuality isn’t a competition.

This monthly wrap up will be linked up with the monthly one by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction. This so we can blog hop to each others wrap ups easier.

  2. So sorry to hear about your dad. I’m glad it wasn’t as bad as expected, but yeah. The waiting is so hard.

I love the turtle you drew! It looks really great. I rarely watch Doctor Who these days either. I did like Jodie’s Doctor, but the writing seemed off to me somehow. They were early episodes, so maybe it’s improved by this point.
