Signing Up for Adult SFF Backlist Books Challenge 2022

This year about 40-45% of my reading was 2021 releases, mostly because of all those arcs I had to read (and still have to read). But also because I struggled to read a lot of months and I ended up picking up arcs in those months because I had to. I would like 2022 to be a bit different. Don’t get me wrong, I like the arcs and new releases and they aren’t going anyway. But I have so many backlist SFF that I want to carve mores space for them.

On twitter I was told to take a look at the Adult SFF Backlist Books Challenge that is being hosted by the bloggers on Bookish Valhalla. Click the linky to go to the sign-up page. So here we are.

The rules are simple:

  • Read ADULT SFF Books that have been published before 2022.
  • Rereads and all formats are welcome

So that just sounds perfect for my 2022 plans and it crosses over with the SpaceTime Reading Challenge and my own Turtle Recall perfectly.

GOALS

Since I mostly read Adult SFF anyway I’m going to be ambitious and say I have a goal of at least 70 books for this.

Every month they have a theme and I’m just going to list a few options that I have on my shelves down below. I’m kind of drawing a blank at some of these because I really have no idea what books on my shelves have rituals and oaths and omens except for the ones I’ve already read haha.

  1. Best of luck with your backlist reading! I am going to try to catch up on my backlist SFF too, but I’ve learned over the years that I’m not very good at tracking backlist reads. So instead of joining you, I’ll just cheer you on for this challenge!
