top ten tuesday

Five Bookish Pet Peeves for Me Personally | #TopTenTuesday 307

Don’t we all have those things regarding reading that makes us cringe. That is like putting long nails over a blackboard. It is just all kinds of ugh to us. I can pull quite a face, just saying. That is going to be personal to each of us. The pet peeves that is. I think we can all do the face. *wink*

So today you can read some of mine for today’s top ten tuesday (as always hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl).

1 Talking to me while I am reading

Sure whatever you are saying is probably important (to you) but could you at least let me finish this chapter!

2 Focusing on how much other people are reading

People seem to like to comment on how much other people read. Either you read too much and you don’t have a life or you couldn’t possibly have actually read the books. Or you don’t read enough and you can’t call yourself a reader. Like stop. Cande says it best~

3 When people hold the books double to read

You know completely breaking the spine so you can see the cover, only the pages. It makes me cringe so hard.

4 Look a like stickers on the cover

You know what I mean. Those things that look like a sticker but is actually apart of the cover and it blocks out at least 25% of the original cover. I hate.

5 When synopsis isn’t on the back

Just put it on the back where I expect it is going to be. Don’t put it on the floppy inside. Don’t expect me to make that effort in a book store. I really don’t care about the reviews for previous books or a whole biography of the author at the moment of decision making.

  1. I hate it when people talk to me when I’m reading. Especially when I’m getting to a critical point in the book. It’s gotten to the point when my oldest is around; I won’t read unless they are occupied with something else because she will talk to me or show me TikToks.

A BookTuber I enjoy watching folds the covers of her paperbacks back when she’s reading. She also annotates while she’s reading. It’s funny watching my kids (13 & 19, and neither are big readers) cringe and almost yell at her. I laugh more at their reaction because the way I see it, it’s her books; she can do what she wants with them.

  2. Ah, I just had an image of a brand new book being bent all the way in half to be read that way and I can just imagine the binding breaking apart and it makes me cringe so hard 🙈 Totally relatable list! I hate those fake stickers as well! Lol

  3. The look a like stickers are the WORST who decided to make this a thing? Especially the awards, I’m super happy when a book gets awards but I don’t need to see the big circular medals covering most of the book.

  4. Yes, it’s so annoying to see people judging how much other people read. Just let everyone be and read what they want at the pace they want. And talking to me when I’m reading is also a no-no for me 🙂

  5. Now that you mention it, I have seen some books that don’t have a synopsis on their back cover. It’s a very odd and unhelpful trend for sure.

    Thanks for stopping by earlier.
