Dancing out of August 2021

August was mostly a good month despite the weird weather. Rain and not all that warm.

The Numbers

In August I read a total of 9 books which makes the total of 2021 70 books read.
Of the 9 books 6 books were Fantasy and 3 books were sci-fi. I dnfed two others.
Out of the 31 days of August I read 9 days which amounted to a total of 2222 pages.
The rating average of this month was 4,2.

  1. Hades by Ursula Visser | 3,5 stars | Short Stories
  2. A Dragonbird in the Fern by Laura Rueckert | 4 stars | ARC
  3. A Psalm for the Wild-Built (Monk and Robot 1) by Becky Chambers | 4,5 stars | Novella
X Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia | DNF | ARC
  4. Bloodwork (Seekers 0.5) by Josie Jaffrey | 4 stars | ARC | Novella
  5. Goddess in the Machine (Goddess in the Machine 1) by Lora Beth Johnson | 4 stars
  6. Devil in the Device (Goddess in the Machine 2) by Lora Beth Johnson | 3,5 stars | ARC
  7. Men at Arms (Discworld 15) by Terry Pratchett | 5 stars
  8. Heartstopper volume 4 by Alice Oseman | 5 stars
  9. Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis | 4,5 stars | ARC
X The Antidote by Susan McCormack | DNF | ARC

Well despite having dnfed two books, arcs at that, I still had a pretty decent reading month with 2 5 star reads and 2 4,5 star reads. But what else was I to expect when I pick up Pratchett and Chambers haha.

personal 2021

⌘ I feel like August just flew right on by. I had two weeks at home with Merijn while husband went back to work. We did some fun activities. Making paper ourselves (of which I made gift tags you can find in the shop), playground dates with friends, nature playground, water festival and so on. No pictures of me because I am the picture taker not the one on the pictures haha.

⌘ The last week of his summer vacation he stayed with my parents so I had some chance to do things. I always try but I never end up being that productive. But it was good to recharge on my own for a bit.

⌘ August 23rd was the day that Merijn started school again. He is very proud of being in group/grade 2 (Kindergarten year 2).

⌘ And of course he turned 5!!!

⌘ Right now I am trying to find my groove back now he is back at school. Maybe I’ll be able to read a little more. One can hope.

whatched 2021

Star Trek Picard | Season 1 | Ep 1-10 | Complete
They finally showed Picard here (we don’t have Netflix or the like) and we quite enjoyed it. Very curious where season 2 will take us.

Clarice | Season 1 | Ep 1 to 8
On a whim I started watching Clarice, set after The Silence of the Lambs. There were only 8 episodes available in our plus tv package which sucked because I actually liked it.

The Challenge | Season 34 | Ep 1-3
And on a whim I started watching the new season of The Challenge. I used to watch the earlier seasons but then stopped. But I’d like to follow this season once again. There is always so much drama between everyone haha.

  1. I love your art! I’m headed to Instagram to check out your work. I enjoy catching toads and frogs even as an adult and smiled when I saw Merijn holding a tiny toad. I read Goddess in the Machine last summer and thought I’d read the sequel, but I’m okay with letting it go now.
