It is the start of May and two months have gone by since I posted an April Book haul. I certainly didn’t do too bad on the whole of the physical book haul. Seven over a course of two months is pretty okay in my book. Netgalley is still sprouting arcs at me from every side and I’m just trying to duck.
★ Mirage (Mirage 1) by Soaiya Daud
This one has been recced to me a few times but I was never sure it was really up my alley. But when I was having my appt at the bookstore for buying paper for my etsy shop (stores are semi-closed because of semi-lockdown. you can do click and collect or book an appt to shop at store) I figured I’d also purchase a book.
★ Dicken’s Kerstverhaal by Merel Leene
★ Damn, Honey by Marie Lotte Hagen
So Dutch publisher Blossom Books was having a B-sale. Books that got send back to them that got damaged in some way and they then sell cheaper on their website. Well these barely have any damages. The Dickens Kerstverhaal is a reimagining of A Christmas Carol as they have been releasing a bunch of classics that way. And Damn Honey is a thin pamphlet kind of thing about how society approaches women. I also got a to do list from their structure junkie line.

★ Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the deep 1) by Mira Grant (aka Seanan McGuire)
★ Take a Hint Dani Brown (Brown Sisters 2) by Talia Hibbert = READ
As you could see in the unboxing, I got these two books in the Easter Book swap!
★ The Bone Shard Daughter (The Drowning Empire 1) by Andrea Stewart
I had an e arc of this but since it wouldn’t work properly on my ereader and I hate reading on the computer, and because wyrd and wonder was hosting it as its May readalong I figured I’d get myself a physical copy.
★ The Dark Side of the Sun & Strata by Terry Pratchett
Normally I don’t buy Dutch copies of Pratchett but this is an old copy that speaks of Pratchett as an up and coming author and that amused me.
Bought Ebooks
★ A Wizards Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher
★ Crime and Poetry (Magical Bookshop 1) by Amanda Flower
These are all the fault of Nicole at BookWyrm Knits. Just so you know
★ Indie Bites, Vol 1: Vampires & Voyages
This is an indie published magazine you can find to download for free here.
Review Copies
★ The Witness for the Dead (The Goblin Emperor 2) by Katherine Addison
★ The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia = READ
★ These Violent Nights by Rebecca Crunden
★ Little Thieves by Margaret Owen
★ Fire with Fire by Destiny Soria
★ The Jasmine Throne (Burning Kingdoms 1) by Tasha Suri
★ Hard Reboot by Django Wexler
Great haul! I got Act you age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibert this month, haven’t read any of the other before so bold choice starting with the 3rd but I’ve heard so much good stuff about it.

I haven’t read the first one but it was fine to read the second one without it so I think you’ll be fine 😀

Oops. Sorry? I hope you enjoy the books! A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking was one of my favorites of 2021 so far. 🙂

A wizards guide didnt quite work for me when I picked it up last week but that might have been my mood so I’m picking it back up later in the year.

That’s completely understandable. When I read it, I found that I enjoyed the beginning and the end better than the bit in the middle, so that might have been part of it, too.

I love the cover of Little Thieves. 😃
I agree seven physical books in two months isn’t bad. 📚
