Hop At It | 2021 Goals

Goals are always a good way to start the year. Sometimes they work out throughout the year and sometimes they do not. 2020 Was one of the years where they didn’t quite work out. Still I’m going to be doing more goals for 2021 again. Setting goals for my reading is fun.

Goodreads & The Story Graph Challenge

I am going to be using both Goodread and The Story Graph in 2021 and see how that goes. As much as I like The Story Graph, there are still things I like about Goodreads as well. So for now I’m trying for both. My goal for the amount of books is 120.

In previous years I put down 60 because of having Merijn but I’ve consistently beat that with bigger numbers so I figured I’d up the number for this year and see where I end up.

Yearly Reading Challenges

In this post I announced my attention to do some of the mentioned reading challenges. Since then I have also added my own Let Us Read Middle Grade and a reading challenge from a Dutch webshop. Obviously the goal of Let Us Read MG is to read middle grade and the other challenge has some prompts to fill in.

5 Books I Think Will Be 5 Star Reads

While I didn’t end up reading all the books from the list last year I still decided to hop on for another year and make a new list.

  1. The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin
  2. The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson
  3. The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne by Jonathan Stroud
  4. The Book of Dragons. Edited by Jonathan Strahan
  5. Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett

What are some of the goals you are going for in 2021?

  1. I am absolutely in love with theStorygraph! What is it you still miss? I hope your wishes will be granted, so you don’t have to use two websites anymore.

My goals this year are kept quite small, except for one. My reading goals are the same as last year, but I do hope to up my rating as it was a bit mediocre. Just as last year, I want at least half of the books I read to be from my current shelf (I made a list!) and the only challenge I’m really invested in is the IGGPPC Geeky Reading Challenge, but I’m sure some others will follow. 🙂

    1. For me goodreads still flows a little more easily and I like the groups like I have for my own reading challenge on there. But storygraph also just needs to be used more to get smoother.

      1. Yay, thanks! Followed you there.

I’ll admit, the community is the part of Goodreads that keeps me going back there even though I don’t like a lot of the rest of it. But at least the StoryGraph community is getting better as the creators learn more about what people want!
