Last year Kal from Reader Voracious organized the Bookish Reader’s Choice Awards as a better version of the Goodreads awards. We all know that those awards are fairly biased. So I am all in for once again nominating books this year.
You can read all about The Bookish Jazz Awards in this masterpost by Kal! You can nominate books for this first round until November 10th! Books with release dates of November 1st 2019 to October 31st 2020 are eligible.
Adult
Fantasy
The Archive of the Forgotten
October 6th 2020
I read some good Fantasy but not all has been released this year so The Archive of the Forgotten stands alone here.
Science-Fiction

Network Effect | Seven Devils
May 5th 2020 | August 6th 2020
Horror
Mexican Gothic
June 30th 2020
Mexican Gothic was just such a delightful read. And this coming from a not horror fan.
Novella

Drowned Country
August 18th 2020
The thing with novella’s is that a lot of people don’t actually pick these up but this duology is pretty amazing.

Coral | Clap When You Land
November 12th 2019 | May 5th 2020
Coral was an arc I was lucky enough to have read last year. While it seems to have some fantastical elements at its core are the mental health problems and the real life. The fantastical elements are a story used to cope.
Clap When You Land is just a beautiful story by Elizabeth Acevedo.
Fantasy

Thorn | Raybearer
March 24th 2020 | August 18th 2020
You all know I am a fan of Intisar so of course Thorn was going to appear on this nomination post.
Raybearer is probably one of the best YA Fantasy books I’ve read in a while and I can’t wait for its sequel.
Science-Fiction

The Electric Heir
March 7th 2020
I loved the first book and this sequel was just splendid.

Look at these pretties.
Debut Novel

Cemetery Boys
September 1st 2020
Cemetery Boys was such a lovely book and had to be on this nominations post.
Favorite Book

Raybearer

Like I said Raybearer is the best YA Fantasy I read in a while.
Middle Grade

Ghost Squad
April 7th 2020
Ghost Squad is so cute and has the best squad.

Oh, I’m so excited to nominate some of my favourite reads of the year for this award! Absolutely love some of the titles you’ve nominated. ❤

It is always so much fun to give this attention to your favorites (but hard choosing)

Yes. Goodreads awards are meh. I mean I still vote and try to get my favorites above water there but I rarely agree with the nominations.

Agreed, I’ve been voting in them for years, but they are definitely meh.
