Epistolary: written in the form of a series of letters

While of course not completely written in letters, the emails are still very important in the book.

Again, not letters but a series of diary entries written for others more than herself.

Uh, yum! What books have you read recently that surprised you (in a good way)?

Killing Gravity (Voidwitch Saga 1) by Corey J. White
I wasn’t sure what to expect here but I found a very inclusive sci-fi world that I’d love to dive into a bit more.

City of Stone and Silence (The Wells of Sorcery 2) by Django Wexler
Unlike the first book, this second book managed to get me a whole lot more excited about the characters and the world. And hey, f/f relationship!

Great Starts to Adult Fantasy If You Are New to the Genre | Book Recommendations
Some genres you just kind of roll into. Fantasy was that for me. Other genres scare you. And other genres same very appealing but you just don’t know where to start. I’ve heard this a lot with people that like Young Adult Fantasy but aren’t sure where to start with Adult Fantasy. So since I read quite a bit of fantasy I listed a few fantasy that I think can be great places to start.

Happy book birthday to #TheBrokenHeavens by Kameron Hurley! Before reading The Worldbreaker Saga, I’d already read one trilogy & two standalones by Hurley, so I knew the series would be great. And yet my expectations were completely blown out of the water. I’m in awe of Hurley’s worldbuilding, of the fascinating magic system she’s created, of her effortless inclusion of diversity, & of her ability to write so many complex characters. . There are quite a few POVs in this trilogy but Hurley pulls it off flawlessly. This is a series about parallel worlds, & each POV both adds to the overall picture, making it impossible to say “those are the good guys & those are the bad guys.” Characters you see in the first book only through another character’s eyes have their own POV in the next book, & suddenly their motivations become clear. Every single character does horrible things, & yet I was still able to sympathize with & understand them. Hurley takes morally gray to the next level, & I love it. . This series is #ownvoices for queer representation & is set in a queernorm world. There’s bisexual rep, gender-fluid rep, poly rep, multiple recognized genders, & so much more. One of the main characters also has a chronic illness & a physical disability. I appreciate the fact that Hurley doesn’t gloss over the character’s struggles. Her problems are real, & they make it so she often has to work harder, but still she keeps fighting. She almost doesn’t get magically “fixed.” . The Broken Heavens, the last book in the trilogy, is my favorite. I couldn’t have asked for more from a series finale. I honestly had no idea what to expect from the ending. I didn’t even know what I should hope for, with all the conflicting POVs. It made for a thrilling read, & I both didn’t want it to end & could hardly put it down. This series is made for binging, & I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait for book three. Do yourself a favorite and give this epic fantasy series a chance! . . #kameronhurley #epicfantasy #diversebooks #fivestarread #bookrecommendation #bookstagrammer #booksoutofdoors #thewordlbreakersaga #lettucereviewit

Senseless Cleaning/Organization

It takes skill to keep a series well organized – what series do you recommend that gets better and better with each book?

Bartimaeus by Jonathan Stroud
You knew this was going to be in here somewhere. Throughout the book we follow Nathaniel who grows up throughout this trilogy and as such the story becomes better.

The Others by Anne Bishop
I had to really get used to the world and the characters in the first book, but the next books quickly sold me on it all. I wonder how I’d feel if I reread the first book now.

  1. This is such a fun tag! Loved reading it, thanks for sharing and for tagging me!! I kind of squealed a bit when I saw that you tagged me because I am so excited about doing this one myself as well!

I love books written with the help of e-mails, a diary, documents, etc. I wasn’t familiar with the 2 you mentioned, so I’ll definitely look them up! And love coming across the Wintersong books! I loved book 1 a lot, but still need to read the sequel. And whoa, that Bullet Journal spread with the dragon is absolutely amazing!! Other than that; I always love discovering new to me books and authors whenever I visit your page. I was able to add quite a lot of new ones to my wishlist today, so thanks haha!

  2. Making lists instead of doing tasks … Hmmm, zijn er mensen die dat doen. Goh, dat zou ik nu zelf nooit niet … Ah ja, i must not tell lies.
