I like to browse instagram when I have just woken up. Pretty pictures of books are a good way to wake up. So it was on one of these mornings that the tag on Elly’s picture caught my attention.
The hashtag MiddeGradeMarch stood out right away. I don’t think I’ve heard of it before so a quick google was in order. The hashtag first started on bookstagram to start sharing the love of middle grade during March. I am all aboard that train.
I’m not sure how many of these I’ll be able to get through as I also have a lot of other things going on at home but we shall see.
Continuing Series
First of all I’d like to continue with some series that I haven’t quite gotten around to reading the sequels yet, but I own them.
- Tilly and the Lost Fairytales (Pages & Co. 2) by Anna James
- Duftapotheke 2 by Anna Ruhe
- Galloglas (Worldquake Sequence 3) by Scarlet Thomas
First in Series
- The Serpent’s Secret(Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond 1) by Sayantani DasGupta
- City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake 1) by Victoria Schwab
- Keeper of the Lost Cities (Keeper of the Lost Cities 1) by Shannon Messenger
- Ned’s Circus of Marvels (Ned’s Circus of Marvels 1) by Justin Fisher
Standalones
- Gips by Anna Woltz
- De Legende van de Vuurvogel by Femke Dekker
- Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke
Ten books seems like it is quite enough to be able to get through this month though I do have more middle grade on my shelves.
We should try and buddy read City of Ghosts together, if you’re up for it! And I hope you love Pages & Co #2—I absolutely adored it!

Hallo, Hallo Annemieke,
Thank you! I caught the #MiddleGradeMarch tag on Twitter today – and although there is a competing one called #MGBookMarch hosted by @MGBookVillage – however, I was trying to source who was hosting this one – #blessed to find you’ve blogged about it! I’m just getting back into the groove – blogging, reading, chatting – I was down for the count for nearly a fortnight with a horrid Winter cold which not only took my stamina but left me ragged with fatigue, troublesome ears (couldn’t listen to music/audiobooks) and the worst sore throat I ever had! I even started to lose my voice… *oy!
I did find @BooksAndJams via Twitter is claiming to be hosting #MiddleGradeMarch via #bookstagram? Which is why I know a lot of talk is happening on booktube right now – but its great we as bloggers can also join in on the fun! 🙂 I’ll be releasing my list soon – I have some Middle Grade on my backlogue I’ve been wanting to dive into for awhile – this helps me loads because I want to requeue my plans for #MyYASummer (at least I think I called it that last year?) to read the rest of the lovelies I have on the backlogue for YA. (smiles)
Will be tagging you on my post – thanks for the head’s up!

The colds have been terrible and now with corona. I hope you and yours are healthy!
I can’t wait to see what you decided on reading.

Hallo, Hallo Annemieke,
So far we’re doing well on the health front, though interestingly supplies are low at the markets where we’ve had to be more patient for re-stocks for cat food, cat litter and of course *toilet paper* because who knew they’d take it *ALL!*? Oyy.
I think I forgot to loop back to tell you I’ve released my list for #MiddleGradeMarch! Can’t wait to see your thoughts about these selections!

I love Cornelia Funke. I will have to add that book to Goodreads. 😊
Good luck with the challenge. 👍✨

Oooh, I didn’t realize that Middle Grade March was a thing! Good thing I’ve got a TON of middle grade books planned this month, so yay! 😉 I really need to read The Serpent’s Secret and City of Ghosts, but I’m not sure if I’ll get to them this month. I just ordered Tunnel of Bones, so I’ll probably wait until that’s in to read it them.
I’ll be reading The House in the Cerulean Sea, Chloe Rose & the Enchanged Maze for sure. And I’ve already read The Revenge of Magic series and the Ben Braver series this week. I’m not sure what else mid-grade I want to read. I have so many to choose from. xD Choices are hard.

Never no middle grade, right? Haha.
I’ve been seeing some great things about The House in the Cerulean Sea!

Funke’s Inkheart books are some of my all-time favourites. I love MG because of the writing style, characters who are trying to be better friends or family members, and magic that doesn’t cater to adults. Hope you’ve been able to enjoy lots of middle grade this month!

Middle grade was great to read in March when covid-19 hit. It made it easier to read.
