Read-a-longs and Read-a-thons

Save the Pond / Pondathon Sign-up

The Quiet Pond is a character driven book blog with characters that live around the pond. From that standpoint CW and her co-hosts blog about books. Some characters do reviewing, others are for recommendations.

With this as the basis, CW created a story-driven readathon. Something is amiss at the pond. CW wrote parts of the story with introductions to the read-a-thon. You can read them here, in this order: Prologue / Choose a Team / Sign-up. And here is a tutorial.

The readathon runs from January 24th to March 7th so that is quite a long time which completely suits me. Week long readathons and I have not been friends since I had a child.

On a personal note: I hurt my back almost two weeks ago and on Monday took a tumble with the bicycle and Merijn. I have extra pain meds for the next week or so but they also make me really tired and heighten my depression. Because of that I am not very present in replying to blog comments/blog hopping/online. Sitting behind the computer is not the greatest unfortunately. I hope it goes away soon but these type of back pains can last 6 to 12 weeks. Oh joy.

The Character

Meet Signourney, my stick whapping butterfly who will silently judge you as she looks at you over her glasses. I choose to go the traditional route because I am just more comfortable with that in the long run.

The Team

team xiaolong full

Signourney choose to go with Team Xialong. As much as I liked some of the other teams this team just works out the best for me at the moment. I can read my arcs and endless fantasy if I so desire. For every 10 pages I get a point and with every book I finish an extra 15 points. That should amount to a nice total.

CW is also organizing a few sidequests along the way that I am sure we can collect points for.

Book ARC #YARC #SoYS Turtle Recall Go Big
Belle Revolte X
City of Stone and Silence X
The Wind Reader X   X
The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents     X X
The Sisters Grimm X
On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness X
The Electric Heir X

The Tyrant’s Tomb     X
The Serpent’s Secret   X X
The Candle and the Flame   X X
The Ten Thousand Doors of January     X
Foundryside (Reread)

Above are some of the books I’d like to get to in the next 2 months or so, during this readathon. I also marked if they worked for some of the other reading challenges I am doing.

The Spread

And lastly I created a spread for my new bujo for this readathon to keep track of everything. I really got into bujo in the last few weeks as it is easy to do with Merijn running around most of the time.

  1. Hallo, Hallo Annemieke,

I’m so dearly sorry to hear about your physical pain & your back! 😦 I’ve thrown out my back and have had other injuries to contend with as well – so in some regards, I know what your facing and I am sorry you have to go through that. Its not easy to transition through or out and I hope time is kind and helps the healing process move a bit easier and quicker! Aside from that – I keep seeing everyone posting about the #Pondathon and I’m seriously the most confused wannabe participant of the event! 😦 I just #dontgetit and I will resolve to enjoy everyone who is posting about joining it.

    1. Fingers crossed the physiotherapist pratcice calls me this week that they have a space for me. I hope you are doing okay too.
Haha cw did put up a lot of information. But it is basically just a readathon where you can choose which team you want to be apart of.
