Wrap Up

Reading Challenges I Did in 2019

I did pick up an unhealthy amount of reading challenges in 2019, I will admit. Some got more attention than others. But I still think I did pretty decently in all of them so go me.

Reading Challenge(76)

Ontwerp zonder titel(2)36 Books > 48 Books

Level: Mt. Ararat
Total: 45/48

Rules: Books Owned Prior to 2019 / No Library Books / Rereads can count (but not in the last 5 years read) / I Am Counting My Ebooks and ARCS received before 2019

My initial goal for Mountain TBR was Mt. Vancouver which was the max of 36 books. I reached that at the start of Summer so I moved up a level to Mt. Ararat.

Reading Challenge(80)

Ontwerp zonder titel(2) 10-15 books 16-20 Books 21-25+ Books

Level: Elemental Witch  (11-15 Retellings) / High Fae (16-20 Retellings) / Fairest of Them All (21-25+ Retellings)
Total: 21/25

While I did not give much attention to this reading challenge throughout the year I still managed to hit the last level of Fairest of Them All. So I am fairly proud of that. I did start the bingo but I dropped it very quickly into the year. It just wasn’t working for me.

reading challenge(82)

Ontwerp zonder titel(2) Level: 3 (21-30)
Total Asian Authors Read: 28

My original goal was to go for the first level which was 1-10 books (with my goal being the top of that, 10). I hit that in the Summer so I went for level  2 which I hit in September. Level 3 was pretty much completed in December. I am glad I read more than I signed up for!

reading challenge(81)

Goal Grade: Acceptable (161 and below)
Overal Points: 310 /644
Reached Grade: Exceeds Expectations (162-322)

You know I’ll be honest that after my first update here I did not look at this board game until well in the Fall. It was hard to keep track of for me with everything else I was doing.  I was at level 6 so I will show how I continued fitting in books down below. I did do it in order of reading them otherwise this would have been easier haha.

Level Six:

  • Newt Scamander: Author with your initials ( )
  • Cursed Child: Play ( )
  • Extendable Ears: Audiobook ( )
  • Lavender Brown: Chick Lit / The Awakening (+10)
  • House: Based on your House / Little Witches  ( +10)
  • Fantastic Beasts 3: Book to movie in 2019 ( )
  • Beedle the Bard: Male author / Grey Sister  (+10)
  • Fantastic Beasts ( )
  • Percival Pratt: Poetry ( )
  • Avada Kedavra: Horror / Small Spaces (+10 )
  • Accio: One word title / Monstress (+10 )
  • Sybill Trelawney: Female author ( )
  • Pottermore: Book club book ( )
  • Crimes of Grindelwald ( )
  • Dumbledore: Book by a favorite celebrity / Binti (+10 )
  • House Cup: Goodreads Awards winner / Legendary (+10 )
  • Advanced Potion Making: Backlist book / Running with Lions (+10 )
  • Molly Weasley: Book your mom loves / Passing Strange (+10 )

Total Points Round 1 (9 blocks): 90

Initially I’d rolled Fantastic Beasts 3 but I couldn’t find anything for that so I rerolled and got House. So I went with a book with blue. Legendary wasn’t a winner but a nominee but I feel that counts too. And for Molly Weasley I went with a book my mom would appreciate. I took chick lit very broad too…

Level 7:

  • The Philosphere’s Stone: Released the Year You Were Born
  • Book Hermoine Would Read / Leviathan Wakes (+10)
  • Harry Potter Series: Young Adult / Thorn (+10)
  • Mental Health / Coral (+10)
  • Severus Snape: Standalone / Invisible Man (+10)
  • Released in 2019 / Spellcaster Academy 5 (+10)
  • Book of Spells: Classic
  • Moody: Based on Your Mood / Monstress volume 2 (+10)
  • Dursley’s: Non-Fiction
  • Ginny Weasley: Fierce Females / The Sword of Kaigen (+10)
  • Free Choice / Aquicorn Cove (+10)
  • Shrieking Shack: Thriller
  • Lupin: Paranormal / Spellcaster Academy 4 (+10)
  • Marauder’s Map: Magical Book for Adult/Teens / Spellcaster Academy 3 (+10)
  • Tonks: Character with Dyed Hair

    1. I try ❤

I do forget about some but mostly I have them written down somewhere and remind myself in my monthly wrap up so I can never completely forget about them.

  2. It looks like maybe you’re finding the challenges and there’s something that helps you track them, or do you make your own and track on a spreadsheet or something? I would love to try some reading challenges and yours look so organized!

    1. I tend to make my own. I have some in my bujo now. Sometimes the reading challenges also offer ways to keep track of them. I try the find the easiest ways for me to keep track of them though. I have a booklet where in I keep track of my reading statistics and I take the reading challenges along in that. And sometimes I also make blog posts way ahead of time for the end of the year wrap ups where I can just keep adding into. But I might make a post about it sometime. Because I do different things to keep track of it all.
