Here We Go / #BookishReadersChoice2019 Nominations

It is that time of year again where we talk an abnormal amount about the Goodreads Choice Awards on Twitter. Mostly in my Twitter corner it is to complain for the lack of things to vote on while we do read a good amount of 2019 release.

Look if the YA categories do not match what the community is talking about, I think that is a problem. Initially I was going to share my nominations per category I read in. HOWEVER then Kal from Reader Voracious announced she was going to host a Bookish Reader Choice Award and I decided that was a much better thing to put my effort into. So I transformed that post into this nominations post.

I am obviously not going to nominate something for each category because I did not read in all (sub)categories. We can nominate 3 books for each subcategory and that is super generous.

Fantasy is by far the hardest genre for me to make nominations on. Especially in adult fantasy I loved a lot of books that deserved recognition. Young adult this year was a bit hard for me because there were not that many stand outs to me at all. No 5 star reads within this selection year.

Science Fiction

It is interesting to see that 2 out of 3 adult nominations are novella’s. Just goes to show that I am not as on game with sf’s latest releases. Not that I am better at YA.

This was such a hard decision to make because hello there have been some amazing 2019 covers. As such there are some books for this category that I haven’t read yet but that I absolutely love the cover for.

  1. Love the title of Amanda Lovelace’s poetry book! You’ve got some great nominations here! I’m still undecided about whether I want to participate in the Bookish Readers Choice because decisions are hard. xD I think most of what you’ve nominated is still on my TBR, if I’m honest, and I’m looking forward to getting to them. xD

  2. Love this idea for a post!! To be taught if fortunate was such an amazing book. It really captured my heart, attention, EVERYTHING ❤ I haven't read Fever King yet but it's sitting patiently on my shelf! I'm hoping to get around to it before the end of the year haha. Fab post! Jen

    1. Right? I don’t even understand how some got on the nominations list. I love Marie Lu but I literaly heard no one talking about the release of the fourth Legend book in my circle.

  3. I love the cover of Nocturna so much! 👍✨

I had forgotten about City of Broken Magic, and I scooted over to NetGalley to see if there was an ARC for the sequel and it’s already published and archived. I’m a bit upset. 😕

Thanks for sharing your favorites. 🙌🙌🙌
