Last week I turned the -ahum- lovely age of 32. Of course this was celebrated. And guess what gifts I asked for my birthday…
Yes you are correct. I asked for books. I’ll be honest and say that I ordered a bunch of these myself with other people’s money because how else can you control what you get?
Also I will have you know that ONLY one book was purchased in September. I was a good girl in September, just so you know…
★ Galloglas (Worldquake Sequence 3) by Scarlett Thomas
So I wasn’t a big fan of the second book in this series but when my mom was like, do you want anything, and not much was out in the book store at the time, I figured I could give this series another chance.
★ Nocturna (Forgery of Magic 1) by Maya Motayne
Okay I was going to wait to get the dutch release from the library but then I saw Anderwereld selling this second hand fairlyloot edition and I could not say no to that…
★ Tilly and the Lost Fairytales (Pages & Co. 2) by Anna James
I read the first one from the library earlier this year and really enjoyed it so when I found this english hardcover I could not resist it. It is so nice and tiny too.
★ The Winter of the Witch (Winternight 3) by Katherine Arden = Read
The dutch edition finally came out so I had to have it to complete my trilogy.
Birthday
From my husband
★ The Blood (Monstress volume 2) by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda
★ Haven (Monstress volume 3) by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda
When we were in a comic book store in Antwerp I found these and husband agreed to give them to me for my birthday~ I don’t follow a lot of graphic novel series along (as in none to be honest, I am not up to date with anything). So with this I am close to being up to date.
From my husband
★ Scythe (Arc of a Scythe 1) by Neal Shusterman
★ Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe 2) by Neal Shusterman
I’ve been meaning to get to these for a while but then never did. So here we are.
When it says from my parents I mean I got a budget to order books from for my birthday lol.
★ Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Imaginarium by Paul Kidby
I have had my eye on this book since its release but it was damn expensive (around 40) so when I saw this second-hand I grabbed it. It is a little banged up at the top there but the insight is still so gorgeous.
From my parents
★ Heartstopper Volume one by Alice Oseman = READ
This just looked too cute.
From my parents
★ Moving Pictures (Discworld 10) by Terry Pratchett
One more for the collection!
From my parents
★ The Tyrant’s Tomb (The Trials of Apollo 4) by Rick Riordan
I have it in my hands ❤
From my parents
★ Failure to Communicate (Xandri Corelel 1) by Kaia Sønderby
Just in time for sci-fi month. I had this as a free ebook on my kindle app but after reading 2 pages I knew I was going to need a physical copy.
From my parents
★ City of Dragons (Rain Wild Chronicles 3) by Robin Hobb
Next year I am going to focus on the Rain Wild Chronicles from Robin Hobb so here is book 3.
From my parents
★ Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia
A pre order that came out after my birthday but that I had added in because I really did need this.
From a friend
★ Between Worlds: Folktales of Britain and Ireland by Kevin Crossley-Holland
My friend saw this and immediate thought of me. I can tell you that it is really pretty underneath that dustjacket.
From my sister in law
★ The Wilful Princess and the Piebald Prince (Realm of the Elderlings 0.5) by Robin Hobb
This is a novella that is an addition to the witted in Fitz story that I hope to read before his last trilogy. Or I think I should fit it in there.
★ The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (Inheritance 1) by N.K. Jemisin
I finally got the first one. I have had the second one for a while because I found it cheap and I really loved The Broken Earth trilogy so I really can’t wait to dive into this one next year.
From my parents in law
★ An Echo of Things to Come (Licanius 2) by James Islington
I have the first but not read it yet. HOWEVER I am expecting to fall in love with these and since (SPOILER FOR ME) I am hosting a reading challenge next year for books over 500 pages this seems like a great add.
From my birthday twin
★ Heartstopper volume 2 by Alice Oseman
And since I knew I was going to get volume 1 I asked for volume 2 from my friend (who shares the same birthday <3). I got her The Dragon Republic by the way.
★ The Babysitter’s Coven by Kate M. Williams = DNF
Release Date: September 17th 2019
I was very pleased to receive this arc through netgalley. Unfortunately it ended up being not for me.
★ Gravemaidens by Kelly Coon
Release Date: October 29th 2019
So excited for this one!
★ Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan
Release Date: November 5th 2019
I don’t know how I got this lucky!
★ On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson
Rerelease Date: March 10th 2020
I didn’t realize this is considered christian fiction when I requested it but I will still give it an honest go ❤ They are rereleasing the series.
★ The Electric Heir by Victoria Lee
Release Date: March 17th 2020
I might have screamed when I got approved for this one because The Fever King is one of my favorite YA releases of this year.
★ The Wind Reader by Dorothy A. Winsor
Release Date: September 28th 2018
I was offered a copy of this for review by the author and while I won’t be able to read it right away I am very curious about it!
★ Burned (Fever 7) by Karen Marie Moning
I finally got the next ebook of this series after having read Iced a while back. I know that this dissapointed many so I don’t have too high expectations and but I also need to get through it to continue on.
★ The Tiger’s Daughter ( Their Bright Ascendy 1) by K. Arsenault Rivera
Free Tor Ebook of the Month. I didn’t know until after adding it on goodreads though that the Asian rep wasn’t all that great. I’ll be keeping that in mind when I do get around to reading it.
A late happy birthday! I had my birthday last month and could only hope to have as amazing book haul as you did. 🙂

What a fantastic variety of books. I love getting a budget and told to order away. It’s so fun.
I’m reading Monstress as well. I’ve only read the first 2 so far. The artwork is insane, I love it.

Right? It is am amazing feeling.
I am waiting on getting volume 4 and then I am going to reread 1 and binge the others. That will be a great experience I think.

Happy belated birthday!! You got a great bunch of books there.
Btw, loved how Hobb’s world expands in the Rain Wild books. Trehaug sounds impressive because of the tree houses despite the acidic river.

First of all these photos are gorgeous! 👍✨
I am glad I didn’t trust buying that used copy of Willful Princess, ha ha! 😅
I think I might try and read the next Rain Wild book in December because I won’t be reading anything newer than 50 years old next year, unless it’s a retelling. They have such wonderful covers! 🐉✨
You birthday hauled like crazy, and I am so jealous of that Discworld Imaginarium! 😍😍😍
