Back in April I finally got to participate in the O.W.L.S Read-a-thon as created and hosted by Book Roast over on youtube. This read-a-thon was focused on the Harry Potter exams where we would take them the same. As a continuation there is the N.E.W.T.S. read-a-thon. As you might guess this is of course based on those exams in Harry Potter.
Here is the announcement video. A lot of the explanations, FAQ, Career Guide and anything else you might need she has linked down below in the description box and will help you figure out how to go about this read-a-thon. You don’t need to have done the OWLS to be able to do this one if you weren’t able.
This read-a-thon focuses back on the careers we choose during the OWLS and in the guide there will be the subjects you need to take for that career. I completed all 12 owls so technically I could just pick any career if I wanted to at this point. However I am sticking with Healer at the moment.
Here the passing grades are important. Per subject there are 3 prompts and so 3 passing grades. For healer I need all my subjects to be Exceed Expectations so that means I need to do the A(cceptable) prompt and the E prompt. Which means I’ll need to read 10 books for Healer. If you need O(utstanding) then you will need to do all 3 prompts.
So here we go. Since August will probably be a month I won’t have so much me and reading time so I tried not to have too many long books. But I also need to get on some arcs so yeah. I am also not going to look outside of these prompts that I need for Healer because I don’t think I will have the time.

This year the Forbidden Section is new. Spellslinger is the book that we can all read together and talk about nearing the end of the month of I recall right. You can use it to substitute any book if you can’t get to it so you can still get the passable grade for it, even if it doesn’t fit the prompt. I am just going to read a bit of Spellslinger each week I think, make a schedule, and if I need a substitution I can use it and if not I will have read an extra book.
