Some of My Favorite Couples / #TopTenTuesday 175

Thursday it is Valentine’s Day! This of course means that for this top ten tuesday (as always, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) we are talking about something romantic. Now you all know that romance is not my favorite element in a book. However I can appreciate it when it is done well.

So that means for today I am listing some of my favorite couples! Now there might be some considered spoilers here just be mentioning some of the couples for Snow Like Ashes and the Dark Gifts trilogy at least. Be aware of that when you scroll down below.

Slow Burn

Meg & Simon (The Others by Anne Bishop)
Of course I have to start off with the biggest slowburn I’ve read in recent years. There is something so beautiful about seeing their relationship blossom throughout the series.

Malta & Reyn (Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb)
While Reyn might have been sold on Malta right away, Malta certainly didn’t feel like that. It took a lot of maturing and growing up before she was anywhere near ready to be in any kind of relationship with him.

Eve & Roarke (In Death by J.D. Robb)
While they get together in the first book it certainly takes a while for Eve to truly warm up to Roark and let him in.

Silyen & Lucas (Dark Gifts by Vic James)
I saw this coming from the first book but it took until the third book for something to actually happen. There was so much that needed to be dealt with first for both of them. Especially Silyen deserves all the best he can get.

Not Made to Be Real / Grump

Hermoine & Krum (Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling)
I will die with this ship. No Ron isn’t right for her. Neither is Harry. Krum would kiss the earth she walks on. You cannot change my mind.

Meira & Theron (Snow Likes Ashes by Sara Raasch)
I shall weep forever about how Theron was treated. He is so much better than whats his name…

Other Great Couples

Monty & Percy (The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee)
These two are the cutest. They deserve the world.

Colton & Danny (Timekeeper by Tara Sim)
These cute boys. So much love for them.

Rhy & Alucard (Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab)
Snappy dialogue and vulnerable men.

Howl & Sophie (Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones)
And of course I have to finish with one of my favorite couples of all time. Sophie I don’t know how you deal with Howl some days haha.

Do we share some favorite couples?

  1. Great list, I love Howl and Sophie! The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue made my list this week too, and I’ve seen The Others on a few lists this week so clearly I need to cross it off my TBR. I must admit, the older I get the more I don’t like Hermione and Ron as a romantic couple, although I was never a huge HP shipper anyway – I loved the friendship and family stuff more than anything, I don’t think romance was really Rowling’s forte in this series. Although I will forever ship Sirius and Remus.

    1. They are such a great couple.
And yes, read The Others. So good!
Agreed the friendship was much more interesting. And personally I’m mostly into harry potter for the word than anything else.

  2. Eve & Rourke made my list as well! And I’ve seen Monty and Percy on a few lists today. I didn’t necessarily like the pairing of Hermione and Krum, though I do think it helped her to come into her own.

  4. Awk yes I love the Timekeeper books!! Well the first one, because I haven’t yet finished.πŸ˜‚But I loved Danny/Colton a lot. And I also LOVE Percy/Monty. Such dysfunctional but adorable cinnamon rolls.

  5. I loooooove Rhy and Alucard, oh my God. They’re snappy conversations were always some of my favorite scenes in the series! I had actually never even though of Krum x Hermione as an endgame ship, but it makes sense – he really did love her haha. Although I’m still a sucker for Romione. πŸ™‚

  6. Hermione and Krum made me laugh. Now there’s a pairing you don’t see too often. I feel like Krum got the short end of the stick. I’m sure he had more of a personality than he was given credit for.

A couple of these books are on my TBR, so I’m looking forward to reading these couples! Yes! And Howl x Sophie is so yes. They’re just perfect for each other. Sophie has the patience of a saint, which she needs to deal with Howl’s dramatics. xD

      1. OH MY GOSH, the poor woman. xD I never even imagined them having kids. Ahhhh. He would be adorable. And Big Howl and Little Howl could sulk in the corner together while poor Sophie just rolled her eyes.

Nope, they need to have twins. One for each of them, so that Sophie has something to grasp onto to maintain her sanity. xD
