Year of the Asian Reading Challenge

Well, are you doing ANOTHER reading challenge, Annemieke? Why yes, yes I am.

I did debate with myself on adding another reading challenge to the mix. However I do actually have some books by Asian authors on my tbr for other reading challenges anyway. Might as well give some extra attention to them. Now watch me epically fail all of my reading challenges.

So if you haven’t heard CW from The Quiet Pond, Lily from Sprinkles and Dreams, Shealea from Shut Up Shealea and Vicky from Vicky Who Reads have combined forces to bring us the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge. The goal is just to read as many books by Asian authors. You can read more about it here.

Challenge Level

I am just going to take it easy and start with the first level and see where I end up.

Philippine Tarsier: 1 to 10 Books Read

I will be updating this mostly in my monthly wrap ups however.

  1. Best of luck with this reading challenge! The Poppy War, Jade City, Under the Pendulum Sun and Sorcerer to the Crown are all on my TBR for this challenge, too. I keep hearing amazing things about Jade City. πŸ™‚

  2. Good luck! I really want to read The Three-Body Problem, The Poppy War, and Wintersong too. And I actually have the sequel of Novice on my shelf, unread, but I can’t remember much of what happened in the first one.

Just a heads up, S.A. Chakraborty isn’t Asian. She’s a white author who converted to Islam, and her last name is her husband’s. Although I’d still recommend reading The City of Brass!

  3. This is an awesome challenge! i’ll have to think about adding it. One of my goals of the year is to read SFF from settings other than Western areas, and this would really help me hone in on it for sure.
I’ve been thinking of reading Jade City, but can’t decide if I actually like the godfather-esque flair to it.

    1. I think so yeah. And it is low commitment so it doesn’t have to add too much stress to the overal year.
Yeah same but I like the author on twitter and I’ve heard only good things so I’m focusing on that haha.

  4. Love the sound of this challenge and there are so many on here I want to read like Jade City and The Poppy War. And is that Sorcerer to the Crown I see. Definitely want to do a reread of it before The True Queen comes out. Hope you enjoy all the ones you pick up for this challenge!

  5. Oh, this is quite an awesome challenge!! So many interesting books!
I still need to read Warcross, or anything else by Marie for that matter, Batman and Shadosong from this list. Wintersong is one of my faves, loved that book so much! Hope you’ll accomplish this goal and that you’re going to love most of them xD

    1. Yes.
I wasn’t the biggest Warcross fan but I hope I like Batman better. I really liked her legend trilogy and I just keep giving her another chance haha.
I read the Wintersong duology so I am off to a good start. πŸ˜‰

  6. Daenarys mag dan de Mother of Dragons zijn maar jij bent volgens mij de Queen of Challenges. Je gaat je alleszins niet vervelen dit jaar vermits je het sowieso al druk genoeg zal hebben met het bijhouden van je vorderingen.
