Happy new year!
This week the topic for top ten tuesday is top rated books of 2018 (as always hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl). I decided to share my 5 and 4,5 star rated books of last year. I haven’t been rating books very high as you will see in my stat post later this month. I mean I read about 200 books and I only have five 5 star reads.
But I also had some 4,5 star reads and so I still get near the 10 for this post. Yeay me.
Giant Days, Volume 1 and 2 by John Allison / review
Foundryside (The Founders 1) by Robert Jackson Bennett / Review
The Fifth Season (Broken Earth 1) by N.K. Jemisin / Review
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
Fool’s Errand (Tawny Man 1) by Robin Hobb
The Mad Ship (Liveship Traders 2) by Robin Hobb
The Many Worlds of Albie Bright by Christopher Edge / Review
The Empty Grave (Lockwood & Co. 5) by Jonathan Stroud / Review
Lake Silence (The Others 6) by Anne Bishop / Review
Not very often …

I can’t remember the last time I saw a Top Ten Tuesday post that rated the books on their list. What a cool way to decide what to blog about.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

Nope, I’m an incredibly picky reader and I’ve found my five stars getting less and less over the years!

It really is-I think that’s just something that naturally happens when you read as much as we do!

Wonderful list! I had a bunch of five star reads in 2018, but I’m pretty picky about my ratings.
Happy reading in 2019!! 🙂

Sadly, I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned, but I’m dying to read Lake Silence. I believe I’m picky about my ratings, but I can easily rate a book with five stars. Of course, it doesn’t mean the book is flawless, but if the story leaves me wanting for more and I can’t stop thinking about the characters and the story I’ll give it five stars.
Happy New Year!

That is true. Five stars is often a feeling you have about a book. Lake Silence was pretty great. 😀

I give a lot of five star ratings. Probably too many. But there are so many good books! I’m trying to rate lower, but for me, it’s difficult to do.
Have a great reading year this year!

Rate however you want. If it feels right that you give them a 5 stars than it is. 😀

I haven’t read any of these!
I don’t rate books 5 stars too much these days… I’ve become a lot pickier. 4 stars seem to be my “I really liked it” normal.

Yeah same, or 4,5 stars. Its like I don’t want to commit haha.

I’ve heard really good things about Foundryside. And yes, I tend to give 5 stars easily than a lot of people I think but it’s still not every single book. I give more books 4 stars than anything.

Foundryside was excellent. Looking back I think I should have rated it 5 stars. 🙂

Great list! I must admit, a book has to be really special to get 5 stars from me so you’re not alone there. I love The Fifth Season and really enjoyed Foundryside recently, so I’m glad to see you liked them! 😀

Do you think I would like Foundryside? 🤔
I am finally reading a Robin Hobb book this month for Dragon Daze. 👍✨
You know, I have never really looked at my five star ratings on Goodreads. I know many of them are actually four star, but I give them five to make up for someone else giving them one or two stars for a stupid reason. It’s still usually 4.5 on the blog… I don’t give many five stars on the blog because I can use half stars. 😇

I think you could for sure though you might have something to say about the world building. 😉
