Book Shelf Tour 2018 – Manga Upstairs + Overview New Shelf Downstairs

As promised as I was doing my normal book shelf tour 2018, I am showing the rest of my manga collection that I have upstairs. Next to the book shelves downstairs we have a small book case upstairs in the guest bed room and a bigger one in Merijn’s room. In Merijn’s room we have a lot of our own children’s books that will be for Merijn when he is old enough.  But in the guest bed room we have comics and manga.

I am going to appologize for some of the photos right away. The lightning upstairs in the guest room is terrible for photos to be honest, no matter how nice it is out.

After that you will see a quick overview of my new book shelf downstairs we added at the end of August and that I managed to fill while reorganizing at the start of September.

Overview Manga Upstairs

So this is a quick overview of the entire shelf. The one on top isn’t as deep as the lower one as you can see.

On top is all my manga. It justs fits. But at least I can say that I have read almost all of these. I should probably go through these, do some rereads and see what I want to keep and what not.

These are some comics from my husband. His red bind-up collection from Suske and Wiske and some Donald Ducks. Below this there are two more shelves but they host more study books and photo albums and the like.

A small shot and not apart of the book case but because these are so tall they are in a seperate hanging shelf further down the room. It has a Tin Tin comic I gave my husband for his birthday. And two character guide. One from XXXHolic and one from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Both series I have downstairs.

Moving on I have Only the Ring Finger Knows by Satoru Kannagi and Hotaru Odagiri. This is a fairly clean Yaoi romance. Yellow volume one by Makoto Tateno is not, haha. I think this was 18+. I don’t remember much of it but I don’t think it was too bad but I think the rest of the series is. Not that I have read them.

Then we have Kingdom Hearts II volume 1 by Shiro Amano. Kingdom Hearts is of course from the videogame that I never played, but for some reason I know the characters through fan fiction. How sad is that haha.  This one focuses on Roxax but I never continued with it.Next to that I have Neon Genesis Evangelion volume 1. This manga was written after the series. Evangelion has always intrigued me. I saw the first movie that went with the series and own the first two new reboot movies that came out a few years ago. But I could never get the third one.

On top of the stack is The Secret Notes of Lady Kanoko. I thought this was just okay. Nothing very interesting. And then we have the three Kingdom Hearts books with Sora. I never continues with this either. #oops

The rest of the stack has Fruits Basket, volume 2 to 10. It is an entertaining read. I found these all rather cheap.

Next to that we find three Avatar: The Last Airbender ones. The two with faces on the spines follow the movie, zuko’s prequel and The Last Airbender. They weren’t that great. And the one with the blue spine, Avatar: the Last Airbender follows the show.

Then I have first two volumes of Princess Ai which wasn’t very spectacular either. Next to that is Naruto volume 47. I read a lot of Naruto online back in my day but didn’t end up finishing it later on. I’m not sure where I ended at.

On top of the stack  then have Pandora Hearts volume 1. A cute read.  Phantom Dream volume 1 I remember absolutely nothing from. The Dreaming volume 1 is the same.Wild Ones was nothing special. Re:Play volume 1 is from a deviantart artist I followed years ago (I am no longer active on da) and I loved her art. So i bought this first volume. I really enjoyed the story.

I have Shutter Box volume 3 and 4 but found these really bad. D.N. Angel volume 1 and 2 were pretty fun. As was Gravitation of which I have volumes 1 to 4. The reason why I hardly continued with a lot of these was that a lot of these series turn so long and my attention wavered a lot back in high school.

One shelf lower you see Shaman King volume 1 and 2. In the two photos down below you will see volumes 3 to 17 as well. It just wouldn’t fit so nicely on this shelf. Surprisingly that means I actually have about half of this series. Kana would translate them and they were like 7 a piece or something. But then they stopped or I never saw them.

Below that you find volume 6 of Inuyasha I found at random. Again through fanfiction I know about these characters and the general story but I’ve never really read the whole manga or seen the whole anime.

For a while there I was really into Yu-Gi-Oh! I followed a lot of the anime on tv, had the cards and everything. But at some point I lost interest.  I was mostly a yami Bakura fan. Lol, surprising right?

Ah a complete manga series. Alice 19th is a cute seven part series that I enjoyed. (and I also spilled stuff on it so some of the manga pages look disgusting. Oh teen me, why?)

A whole stack of Shaman King!

On the last shelf it starts with volume 1 of Naruto and then 4 to 11 and 13. Again it just depended on what I could find of it here.  Next to that we have One Piece volume 1 to 7 that I bought in a big bundle together. I heard many talk about this series so when i got the chance to buy them I got them. I know I’ve read them but it just has been so long.

Say Hello to Black Jack, of which I have volume 1 to 3, is a very different kind of manga that focuses on the life of a doctor. 20th Century Boys is a little weird. Monster is a thriller.  Battle Angel Alita is an interesting look on to keep your humanity the face of revenge.

Soul Eater is a fun series that I should really look and see if I can continue some time. And lastly we have some Air Gear. This was a manga I obsessively read online for a while and then just stopped. I can see more clearly now some of the problems with it (the big boobed girls for instance) but I really loved it at the time. Especially the characters.

Overview New Shelf Downstairs

So I got a new book shelf which brings the count to 4. Wel technically 5 since there is a small one next to it, but i’ve given most of that to Merijn.

All the way at the top I’ve put my manuscript of the Dutch translation of the fourth Others book and two physical arcs. And the ron hogwarts train part. In box because they are technically my husband’s. Then I have some Roald Dahl and some other books I bought for Merijn like Artmis Fowl and the Ranger’s Apprentice I hope to still read some day as well.  Below that with the penguin are some listening books for Merijn.

And here are some more of Merijn’s books. He can grab these himself. The fun vehicles were a birthday gift for him from La La in the Library. ❤

All the way at the top are some more of him husband’s Donald Duck Comics. The rest are tbr hardcovers.

The first shelf of this picture is a bit of a I’d like to read these soon tbr, what I actually want to read that month and what I’ve hauled shelf. Below that you find a lot of Harry Potter merchandise, including the myster lego’s. And in the left corner there is some of my Grisha stuff. The paperbacks are again all tbr.

Do you have shelves and books all over the house or do you keep everything in one place as much as possible?

    1. It houses a lot of Merijn’s books so it kind of has to reflect that, right?
I never had shelves until we bought our own house. Now I just silently remove other items in our house to make more space for shelves. 😉

  1. I am so envious of your bookshelves. I have no bookshelves in my house. I have boxes… and one shelf on the top of my closet that I need to stand on a chair to reach…

Next house I move to is going to have space for bookshelves! Since we’re buying the house we’re living in now, there’s no rush to move, but when we do get to the place where we can move to a bigger house… bookshelves!

And you have some amazing books on your shelves too!

    1. Thank you! I didn’t have shelves until we bought our own home. Totally make sure you have one big wall where you can line up all the shelves. My biggest regret haha. I hope you can maybe fiddle things around so you can reach your shelf better?

  2. Your shelves are so pretty! I especially love Merijn’s one 🙂 He’s a lucky boy

Isn’t ‘One Piece’ like super, SUPER long? Will you need an extra room for all of those? 😀 I know my brother is watching the anime and is up to date. I remember him talking about 500 episodes or something?

    1. Thank you.

Haha I think it is. I got them fairly cheapish when they started selling them but they didn’t continue after these volumes I think where I bought them. I don’t think I’d want to own them all haha but reading them some time would be nice.

  3. How fun! I use to try collecting manga when I was younger, but it was so challenging to keep up with the complicated lengths of these series, I eventually gave up. I couldn’t get into Naruto (I couldn’t figure out what was happening in the cells) but I *love* Inuyasha. I’m a sucker for a good fantasy/romance. 😉

!!! Those bookshelves are beautiful! Are they built-ins? They look that way, but it might be the lighting. Speaking of, the lighting is definitely not bad. I don’t think you need to apologize! XD

    1. It is. So long so many of them are and you finish them so quickly. At some point it made me lose a bit of interest.

No build-ins. Just ikea billy shelves. 😉 And I guess the lighting doesn’t look too bad since I edited them decently haha. 😉

  4. Baz is a HUGE Kingdom Hearts gamer. I wonder if he’d like the the manga? I love the way the manga looks on your shelves. They are all so matchy-matchy. 😍

I didn’t remember you had King of Scars, or did you just get that? 📚

What is that Brian Selsznick book?! The cover is amazing. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

I love the look of your new bookcase. Thanks for the tour. 💜✨

    1. He might, especially the roxas one. And yes I love that too.

The King of Scars is a sampler that was in the grisha goodie box. 🙂
      And it is Wonderstruck!

  5. Such pretty manga!!! I love Naruto and Fruits Basket, but I’m actually getting rid of my “collection” of them, since I really didn’t have many and I don’t see myself buying the rest. Your shelves are so pretty. ❤

All my books are in one room, which we have dubbed the library. Well, mostly in there. I have a small TBR stack on my work desk, but they hardly count. But my shelves are nowhere near as pretty as yours haha. They're just … chaotic.
