Book Haul

Book Haul #32 – Goodbye April

I know May 4th is Star Wars Day for a lot of people but in the Netherlands it is mostly the day of Remberance of the Dead from the second world war (and in recent years they’ve added victims from any war.) So it feels a little weird posting this today but I do not actually have that much room in my blogging schedule so it will have to do.

So obviously April is over and done with and here are the books I got throughout the month.

+ = Read

Ringer (Replica 2) by Lauren Oliver
I finally saw this at my local book store and got it. While I didn’t love Replica I am still curious to see where Ringer heads this story into. I also realized after buying that they don’t match, AT ALL. Insert weeping.

★ Get Backers Volume 24 and 25 by Rando Ayamine and Yuya Aoki
I love Get Backers so when I saw these two in the sale at my local comic book store I had to grab them.

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll
I have been seeing this gorgeous edition around since the start of the year or so and fell in love with this edition straight away. But I did not allow myself to get it. When my mom was in town and asked me what I wanted, well that was an easy answer haha. The illustrations are by Rebecca Dautremer.

The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor 1) by Jessica Townsend
So one of the employees at Westerhof has been raving about this book for a few weeks now and when my mom basically offered it on a platter, how could I refuse? (You see how my environment enables me?)

Across the Wall (Abhorsen 3,5) by Garth Nix
So I went to the thrift shop in town for the first time and it is actually quite big and super organized. In the book section I found this novella still wrapped in plastic and since I have the original trilogy and expect to like them, I had to grab this as well.

The Map of Time (Trilogia Victoriana 1) by Felix J. Palma
I’ve been seeing this series at Waanders for a while, well the second and third book anyway but they finally had the first book as well in a small size it wasn’t as expensive as the bigger paperbacks. And as it was book store day I got a 10% discount.
Traitor’s Blade (Greatcoats 1) by Sebastien de Castell
At the same day I saw this signed for book store day and knew I had to have it.

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
Ah I didn’t think I’d get this until May 1st since I pre ordered the Penguin edition (that matches my others). I’d like to reread Simon before reading Leah but we shall see.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
I think I did pretty well until it was King’s Day (the day we celebrate the king’s birthday). The day oftens starts with markets where people sell their own used items. Books included. And besides this one I found the ones down below.

In Death 1 to 13 by J.D. Robb
Remember When by J.D. Robb and Nora Roberts
I just couldn’t leave them for 1 euro a piece…

Give up the Ghost by Megan Crewe
The Way We Fall (Fallen Worlds 1) by Megan Crewe
I follow her newsletter and as such was able to snatch up these two for free.
Ruthless Magic by Megan Crewe
And found her new book on Netgalley.

The Lost Path by Amelie Flechais +
The Righteous and the Lost (Chimera 1) by Tyler Ellis +
Two graphic novels on Netgalley that drew my attention because of the cover.
Bones and Bourbon by Dorian Graves
This one drew my attention on Netgalley with the synopsis. I mean unicorn head? SOLD.
Space Unicorn Blues by T.J. Berry
And a half-unicorn?

  1. You grabbed some goodies on Netgalley! Had you read Megan Crewe before? Finding two freebies and an ARC was primo. 🙌

Are you going to do interior shots of the Alice in Wonderland? That cover art is stellar. 😍

    1. No I hadn’t though I have heard of her for year and years so I guess it is about time I read something by her.

I might do that for some bookstagram in the future. The illustrations are just as nice.

  3. I struggle when my books don’t match either. It’s so hard and I don’t understand why it works out that way sometimes. But here’s hoping you end up loving Ringer even more than the 1st book!
