Mostly I don’t order book boxes but when I do I give a few a go haha.
The Percy special was one of those. The graphic novel of the Lightening Thief was released in Dutch at the end of March. While I have my other Riordan books all in English I figured this was too good to pass on as I didn’t have the graphic novel yet either.
First impressions. I was a little eh. Not because of the above sight but because they usually have a pretty box with Celebrate Books on it and I got this in a plain white box. I’m not sure why that is but it dissapointed me a little. I would have loved a proper Celebrate Books box.
The front of the explanation card. I love this print.
Look at my own little riptide! I put it on immediately after I finished the unboxing. Unfortunately riptide came off when I was getting my son out of bed so it isn’t quite so sturdy. I did manage to get it back on though and I’ll get my husband to make sure it stays on this time.
A pencil with a quote of Percy.
The t-shirt! When I ordered the box I knew there was going to be a shirt in this. And when I ordered I had to put in the size in the comment box. I asked for XL but got an L. So I’m kind of unhappy about this. I did contact them about it but I haven’t heard anything back yet (but it has also been Easter). But it is pretty.
This book box started adding four cards to their boxes to collect each month. I don’t care too much for that but the illustrations are pretty so they might be nice for bookstagram services.
A ruler with a quote. Not so much for me I think. But it is cute. Especially if you are still in high school (and lets be real, that is the official target group, now I feel old).
I love this illustration. This and the illustration above are from the same artist. But this is meant as a book mark except it is huge. It doesn’t feel like a book mark. A bit of an awkward size. Oh well it still fits in the books and I think I’ll use it to read my Riordan books. 😀
So pretty to hang. Not sure where yet. I don’t have a lot of room to put these up. I’ll have to think on that a little as I have a few more prints and illustrations laying around.
And here is the graphic novel. I have since read it and it does leave out some important bits I feel of the actual book. I just miss the humor and the relationships in this graphic novel. The art is also not very consistent.
I think overall everything fits so very well with Percy. And though I have some personal bits I wasn’t pleased with, I do think it is a good box. Looking at Percy all of the items fit. The ruler and pencil don’t just fit because of the quotes but because the target group is high schoolers and Percy is in high school in these books. And I was pleased to see blue food.
