Seeing as I have a goal where I want to lower the amount of unread books of my physical tbr, you know I have books on there that have been unread for quite a while. I’m not afraid to admit that… It is not exactly uncommon knowledge when you visit this blog every now and then.
So I am certainly not afraid to share the ten books that have been on my shelves the longest for this weeks top ten tuesday prompt (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl). If I actually could remember this. See at some point all of them just get added to the void that is unread books on my shelves and as much as I want to read them all, I really can’t remember dates let along years where I bought any of these. Maybe with recent ones but certainly not with the older ones. So all of these are more of guesses. The ones I think have been on my shelves the longest.
These are still on there because they haved passed unhauls. Quite a lot of them actually. I can still see myself picking them up in the near future. The near future being five years or so.
I know, okay. I enable myself…
⌘
- The Warlock (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel 5) by Michael Scott
- Sovereign Stone trilogy by Margaret Weiss and Tracey Hickman
- Under the Dome by Stephen King
- The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles 1) by Patrick Rothfuss
- The Final Empire (Mistborn 1) by Brandon Sanderson
- Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna 1) by Kendare Blake
- Thief of Time (Death 5, Discworld) by Terry Pratchett
- The Dwarves (The Dwarves 1) by Markus Heitz
- Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die 1) by Danielle Paige
- The Warrior Heir (Heir Chronicles 1) by Cinda Williams Chima
⌘
The Name of the Wind is on my TBR, too! But it just was added after this Christmas, so it hasn’t been there that long…

At least the third book seems to be taking forever so we have plenty of time to catch up too. 😉 😦

Dorothy Must Die made my list too! Ahh the struggle of the TBR! Happy reading 🙂

Right? It is terrible.

Ooh Sovereign Stone. I think I remember that series.,.. and The Name of the Wind I started at one point, but then fizzled on it. Maybe I should re-try…

I’m still curious enough to keep it on my shelves even though I’ve owned them 6+ years and yet I never attempt to pick them up…
I think you should definitely give The Name of the Wind another go. 🙂

I loved Anna Dressed in Blood and DNFed Dorothy Must Die. I think Ruin and Rising has been on my shelf the longest. Seeing the big spoiler really killed it for me, but I am determined to read it this year! 😇

Yes, get to it. ❤
I hope I'll read Anna Dressed in Blood in the Fall. 🙂

I couldn’t get into the sequel Girl of Nightmares, but it could have been my mood, so I set it aside. I intend to try again. Hey, thats a good idea… a blog post about what makes the difference between a DNF and a book you only set aside. 💡

I need to finish the Dorthy Must Die series…i have like 2 books left I think and I did enjoy them. I have been thinking about them since NBC cancelled Emerald City My Top Ten

Oh Emerald City is already cancelled? That is one of those series in my huge backlist of series I need to watch, haha.

I was really surprised about how much I enjoyed Anna Dressed in Blood at the time 🙂 And I have the Warrior Heir on my TBR as well – I’m a big fan of her other series and I’ve been meaning to get to this one too, just kinda forgot about it until now *hides* Great list!

Still curious about that one.
Oh I am the same. I loved Seven Realms. I actually started The Warrior Heir once, the first two chapters or so but you can really tell her writing has evolved from then. It kind of put me off but I am determined to finish it some day.

Dorothy must die is on my TBR as well. Though I think I added that just in January.

Under the Dome and The Name of the Wind are both sitting on my shelf collecting dust too…. Under the Dome is just such a huge book that I don’t know if I’ll ever get to it…. I want to but I don’t think I can deal with that sort of commitment!

Oh gosh, I have NO idea which books on my shelves have been there the longest – that I have yet to read. There are far more than I like. haha I am trying to focus more on that this year.

Anna Dressed in Blood is so good! I never got around to the sequel though (story of my life). I’d really like to read a few others on your list. I enjoyed the tv show Under the Dome so I’d like to see all the ways the book differs.

Same, I’d love to see how the book differs, but alas the book is so big haha I’ve not been inclined enough to pick it up (and technically I bought it for my husband).

Ohhh I don’t think I can remember which unread book has been on my shelves the longest haha. Les Mis has been there for a good amount of years though
It’s been a while since I read The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, but I really liked the last two (those are the ones I remember the most as it has been even longer since I read the first four haha). As for the others, I haven’t read those but I hope you’ll enjoy them 🙂

Haha.
I technically still have to read the fourth too but I got the fifth before the fourth if that makes sense haha, so that has been on my shelves for ages.

Dorothy Must Die is on my list this week too! Book that’s been on my TBR the longest? I don’t actually know, the oldest ones on my Goodreads are three years, but I probably have ones from before I had GR that are older.

I just recently picked up The Final Empire as I only recently learned that The Mistborn is actually multiple series, so there is a completed trilogy! Woohoo! That’s the sort of thing I need in my life for sure. 😀 I haven’t read any of the books on your list yet… Which are you most excited to start reading?
Putting this list together got Hyperion back on my radar, and I am SUPER excited for that. You can check out my TTT here.

Yes, that does help! Probably Thief of Time since that is an extra onto a Discworld arc I’ve been reading. Just haven’t made the time for it yet haha.

If only we could get paid to read whatever we wanted all the time. It would be the absolute best. And then we could read ALL of these books. 😉

I am guilty of having the first Mistborn book on my shelf for far too long as well. I actually have the second book up there too. Crossing my fingers we both get a chance to read it soon. I’ve heard some incredible things about the world-building and characters.

I have the first and third on my shelves. Not having the second has been putting me of reading it but I’ve yet to actually buy it. Oops?
Me too. I am very curious.

How funny that you bought the first and third. I almost bought the third, but held off because what if I didn’t enjoy the series. I should have applied that logic before I bought the second, but sometimes self-control is rather elusive.

Nice post I haven’t read any of the book you mentioned, but I am very curious about Under the Dome. I have watched some of the series and I really enjoyed it, but the book is HUGE, haha! I still want to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh.

Ugh yes, the hugeness has been putting me off of picking it up.
I actually read those two last year. 🙂

The way I did my list was by using Goodreads. I sorted by TBR by date added. So that way they are the ones that have been on my tbr the longest…..on there. 😉 I bought some of those books long before I started using Goodreads……but I couldn’t be trusted to remember when I bought what. Hehe. And I still need to read The Final Empire & Dorothy Must Die too!

Haha yeah. I know I got Sovereign Stone and The Dwarves way before I ever heard of Goodreads. 😉
