Swipe, You’re Not Good Enough

At the end of 2017 I saw this fun You’re Not Good Enough tag pass me by on Dragon & Zombies and I knew right away that I had to do it soonish. I actually already did all of this at the end of 2017.

You pick 30 characters and write them on pieces of paper. There are 15 questions in total and for each one you randomly pick 2 names. Then you have to determine who would be up to the task or who would be ‘not good enough’.

Do you know what the hardest thing about this tag was I hear myself asking before I even really start the tag? Picking 30 characters. I just kept on staring and staring and staring at my shelves figuring out who to write down and it took me 45 minutes or so. I just kept thinking: I shouldn’t just do the heroes, or the main characters, and I need this many females at least. Because why not just make it hard on yourself…

Also Sarah, I totally stole one of the characters you listed.

You only have one more spot on your Spelling B team, who would you pick to complete your team?

Eve Dallas (In Death by J.D. Robb) vs Annabeth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan)

I love Annabeth and she is super smart. But most demigods are dyslexic and Annabeth isn’t an exception to it. So I have to go for Eve.

Both characters want to kill you, which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

Smaug (The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien) vs The Darkling (The Grisha by Leigh Bardugo)

I mean, what is the point. I wouldn’t be able to kill either of them and they could land easy punches on me. Fire and grisha powers…vs nothing.

You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette an you’re down to these two characters, which one are you going to give your rose too?

Dancer (Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima) vs Holland (Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab)

This is an easy pick. However much I felt for Holland during reading, in real life we would have nothing to say to each other. Dancer on the other hand is one of the first side characters I loved and wished had more center stage during the series. He’s just a handsome, kind and very talented fella.

You’ve been chosen for the Hunger Games, who would most likely volunteer in your place?

Theron (Snow like Ashes by Sara Raash) vs Zanna (The Zanna Function by Daniel Wheaton)

Ow I’d say Theron since he is the gentleman and I think he would like to save a damsel in distress. Zanna is 14. I don’t think she would volunteer but she is very smart and would work on a way to get me out.

You’re stranded on an island. Which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

Maura Sargent (The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater) vs Rincewind (Discworld by Terry Pratchett)

Well that is easy. I’d sacrifice Rincewind. He’d bloody well annoy me. And despite being a wizard he would not be able to able to get us of that island. And even if he did we would be in worse trouble than before.

Maura on the other hand is psychic and I love her sense of humor. I’d keep her. And lets be real, Mr. Gray would totally come and save her. And I’d tag along.

You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own tv show of course), who is your sidekick?

Nikolai Lantsov (The Grisha by Leigh Bardugo) vs Quill Kipps (Lockwood & Co. by Jonathan Stroud)

Untitled Just give me a second. I’m laughing too hard over here. …

Kipps. And if you for a minute thought I was going to say Nikolai, you are wrong. He is just not sidekick material. He needs to be the leader. There is no other way I can see him. Kipps on the other hand is sidekick material. Sure, he would argue a bit and he’d share his (unwanted) opinion from time to time. But he prefers to be steered.

You’re a manager of an Avocado admiring company, who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

Simon vs Meg (The Others by Anne Bishop)

Well then. Obviously Simon. I mean I’d probably loose a hand, but if I would fire Meg he would probably kill me so… Plus I think Meg is one who can learn a lot about communication skills where Simon is more set in his snarling, growling and hand biting ways…

You’ve just finished a book in which your favourite character dies, which character is most likely to comfort you?

Death (Discworld by Terry Pratchett) vs Blue Sargent (The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater)

Blue. She is a mostly a kind girl and I think she would for sure understand the pain. Death would make an attempt. He might awkwardly pat you on the head or something, but he wouldn’t really understand.

Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?

Nimona (Nimona by Noelle Stevenson) vs Luggage (Discworld by Terry Pratchett)

I’m sorry. Laughing again.

The day has arrived; you’re finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday?

The Fool (Farseers trilogy by Robin Hobb) vs Silyen (Gilded Cage by Vic James)

Oh, hmmm, maybe Silyen. He does have that uncaring thing going for him though I think there is a lot more underneath his exterior. The Fool would probably do the fake forgetting your birthday though, haha.

You’ve just found an upcoming booktube star? Who would most likely be?

Raisa (Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima) vs Silas (The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman)

Raisa would really appeal to a lot of people I think but I don’t think she would really want to be a booktube star. Silas is the mysterious one which would draw a lot of interest too, but I have no idea what he would even talk about haha.

Sleepover time! Unfortunately you can only invite one person, who would you invite?

Paige (Penryn and the End of Days by Susan Ee) vs Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling)

Oh this is hard! Paige is just a little girl and despite being altered physically, would probably still feel a little rejected.  But Luna would be a lot of fun… Pff I am cheating and inviting them both.

Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the father/mother?

Bells (Not Your Villain by C.B. Lee) vs Zacharias (Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho)

Zacharias. I love him. Sorry Bells, but I am so not your type anyway.

You’ve just written a super important text. Who would ‘see’ it, but not reply?

Iko (Wires and Nerves by Marissa Meyer) vs Bartimaeus (Bartimaeus by Jonathan Stroud)

Bartimaeus, he would not care. It  also would be hard to reply from another dimension anyway.

You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mum’s been replaced by..who?!

George (Lockwood & Co. Jonathan Stroud) vs Tiffany Aching (Discworld by Terry Pratchett)

Can’t I have both?

Okay, fine, George. I mean, George knows what is yummy for breakfast. I think he is also secretly a mother hen. If you’ve read Lockwood you know what I mean. ❤

This was too much fun. Send me linkies to similar tags please!

  1. Lol I randomized my read shelf on GR and just used a character from the first 30 that came up (well, skipped a couple) so that I wouldn’t have to think too hard.

Rincewind sounds like a mess lol. But I’m very intrigued by this Simon character and why he does so much snarling and hand-biting. And Death would awkwardly pat you on the head? You’re making me really want to read Discworld. And I totally want to have a sleepover with Luna!

    1. Haha that is a good idea.

He is to be honest. And yes. Death does not understand humans as he would like to haha. You totally should. It is pretty great and a lot of different things throughtout the whole series.
And Simon from The Others by Anne Bishop is pretty great too despite the whole hand-biting thing.

  2. Yayyy, you did the tag!! Awesome 😀

Hey, the Luggage would SO be the coolest ‘kid’ (with that I mean furniture, but psssht!) in school! No one would tell him otherwise 😀 Can you imagine the Luggage going to school wearing an extra little school-bag? Too cute!

The Fool would definitely pretend to forget your bday and make you all annoyed about it.

Ugh, I wouldn’t give Holland anything either. Dancer was nice from what I remember!

  3. OMGawd, what fun, and your answers were wonderful! I love that you mixed non humanoid characters in… Luggage, ha ha. I would never have thought to do that. Now I want to re-read The Color of Magic! I really want to do this tag. Fab photos, too. 💜
