Book Haul #27 – Library Sale and Christmas

Where last month I barely bought any books myself, I did buy a few this month. But to be fair, I got an okay to order books for myself from my mom for a bit and there was a library sale and it is December, you know. The month to treat yourself and others.

Share what you got for Christmas or link me to your book hauls!

Untitled The Eternity Code (Artemis Fowl 3) by Eoin Colfer
The Burning Bridge (Ranger’s Apprentice 2) by John Flanagan
The Merlin Conspiracy (Magids 2) by Diana Wynne Jones
At the start of the month there was a library sale for four days and on the first day I went with my friend to this sale with our kiddies. I was glad we left ours in the strollers and put them to the side where they could see everything. They were very content. Other kids were not, haha. All the books up to 18 were 50 cents and adult books were 1 Euro. So basically they went for nothing.
I found the top three mg/ya books for myself and the lower 4 were for Merijn. The ones for Merijn are in pretty bad shape but he loves thumbing through books and is a bit rough on them so I figured it wouldn’t be so bad if he ruined these. Which he already has with one of them. Completely fell apart haha.

Words of Radiance (Stormlight Archive 2) by Brandon Sanderson
I am set on starting the Stormlight Archive next year so I thought that getting the second one would be a good motivation. My mom wanted me to order books from myself through her eci account so, I mean I can’t say no to that. I got a book for Merijn as well for Christmas that I had been meaning to get for him. And the novella  for this series though that wasn’t in stock at the time.

Edgedancer (Stormlight Archive 2,5) by Brandon Sanderson
But then I finally received this pretty novella. If I don’t read Stormlight Archive next year, somebody please kick me…

Christmas

Untitled

I got this cute little harry potter snowglobe from the fourth movie with a sticker book with some Hogwarts scenery. So pretty.

Untitled
The Inquisition (Summoner 2) by Taran Matharu
This was a book I got from my mom and that I picked out myself. There wasn’t much to pick out in the book store we visited (for the Dutchies, it is a very, very tiny Bruna). But I thought this would bea good choice regardless. I still have to read the first one though.

Untitled

The Three-Body Problem (Rememberance of Earth’s Past 1) by Cixin Liu
The Dark Forest (Rememberance of Earth’s Past 2) by Cixin Liu
I had the first one of this on my wishlist but not the second yet. Yet my husband still got it for me. He can still surprise me outside of my wishlist. 😉 I am super curious about this trilogy. I love the covers too.

Untitled

The City of Brass (The Daevebad trilogy 1) by S.A. Chakraborty
I told my husband if there was one book from my wishlist I really wanted it was this one. I’ve heard only amazing things and have been told that I as a fantasy fan will love this so I am very happy my husband got this for me.

Untitled

The Abyss Surrounds Us (The Abyss Surrounds Us 1) by Emily Skrutskie
I’ve heard so much about this one in the last few years and it has pirates so I am all in for that.

Untitled

Arabian Fairytales by Rodaan Al Galidi and illustrations by Geertje Aalders
Rodaan Al Galidi is an Iraq author who came to the Netherlands quite a few years ago. He wrote down the Arabian Fairy Tales and other tales that were brought to the middle east. Geertje Aalders cut out all the illustrations in paper like you see on the front. They were all scanned in. Geertje actually used to work in my local bookstore. These things made me very interested in this book and then my friend bought it for me when we were in our local bookstore. ❤

Untitled

The Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffmann
This newest edition of The Nutcracker is just gorgeous.

Untitled

The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Mark Salisbury
I have been staring at this since it first came out. I love how they put it together. This was  not on my wishlist though (as I found it so expensive) but apparently my husband remembered and when he saw it during the black friday deals he ordered it for me.

Ebooks

Rend the Dark (Rend the Dark 1) by Mark Gelineau and Joe King
Skinshaper (Rend the Dark 2) by Mark Gelineau and Joe King
So La La in the Library and I were talking about how I can’t post any reviews on Amazon and why that is. And she send me a gift card on there. <3. The first Rend the Dark book was for free and the second one I bought with the gift card. I can’t really get these in the Netherlands and I really enjoyed the other novella’s I was able to read through Netgalley.

Sightwitch Excerpt (Witchlands 0,5) by Susan Dennard
I thought this was the whole thing when I requested but apparently not. Huh.
The King of Bones and Ashes (Witches of New Orleans 1) by J.D. Horn
That title! Through Netgalley.

  1. Wow, library sales have such great deals! I’m so jealous that you have the Summoner books. Like, the problem is that they’re so gorgeous that I want to own them… except I’m not sure I’d actually like them, so idk if I’d read them, therefore it’d be a waste of money. *sigh* But ahhh that Fantastic Beasts book is so cute!

    1. Yes. It is the first time I went, haha.
Too bad that they probably aren’t for you when you love the covers. I have that with some books too. I’m drooling over the cover but then it is a contemporary and I am like, nope.

  2. That’s one awesome haul!! And the City of Brass hardcover looks amaaazing! I got an arc edition, exclusively printed for Illumicrate, which has also a really beautiful cover, but if I end up loving the book, that hardcover needs to be bought as well, so pretty ❤

The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Mark Salisbury.. IT'S GORGEOUS!! Makes me want to take a sneak peek into the book right away, seeing this cover.

the King of Bones and Ashes is waiting on my Kindle to be read as well. I especially love the fact that it's adult fantasy! I'm already curious to see what you'll think of it.

    1. I am so curious about The City of Brass!

I am very curious to see what I will think of it as well since it is a little different from my last few reads. 🙂

  3. So many of these I was not aware of! I will be looking forward to your Arabian Fairytales review so I can see some of the inside cut paper illustrations. The cover is fabulous. 💜

I am very happy you were able to get something you really wanted with the GC. 😊
