TTT #119 – Settings in Books I Would Love To Visit

One of the things that I love the most about reading is how we get to read about so many amazing places. Real places, changed places and completely imaginary ones. There is something about discovering all these places on the page without having to leave your home for it.

But even more amazing would be to actually visit some of these. For me I would love to be able to go to some of the places in some of my favorite fantasy books. Those places that aren’t actually real. To discover and see for myself. See if my imagination conjured the right image as I was reading. And London does have its appeals, okay.

Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for this top ten tuesday prompt.

  1. WOW, those end-pages are from The Lunar Chronicles, right? They are so stunning and I wish I could have that edition! But honestly, space creeps me out and I wouldn’t like to visit the moon that much…
Caraval is a book I’ve still to read to complete my 2017 Circus list, including The Night Circus and Daughter of the Burning City! I got the book way back in January when it first came out but I STILL haven’t gotten to it! I’ve heard brilliant things about the atmosphere, though, and that’s all I’m here for. Great list!

  2. I love seeing Howl’s Castle on this list! I adore Howl’s Moving Castle and I almost added it to my own list– it would be literally fantastic. So would the House of Many Ways, right?

What is the first photo in this post of? It could be Luna, but it could also be so many other places… I’ve only read a few of the books on your list. That said, I love that we have some duplicates! Red London and Hogwarts? Yes, please!

      1. I think the House is a more interesting setting than hang out at the Castle, honestly. But I think Howl’s Moving Castle is a better overall book. The House is just… well, very Wonderland-y. I would encourage you to read it some day. Perhaps you and Merijn can read them together when he is older?

I only read the eBooks for The Lunar Chronicles, so this is exciting! I didn’t know there was actual art in any of the books, even if they are on the end pages. I wonder how many other wonderful things I’ve missed out via eBooks?!

  3. Omg yes yes to Red London and Caraval!! I mean Caraval’s world was really messed up but I would so love to get lost in the magic of it all?! And who wouldn’t want to go to Hogwarts.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I also really want to go to Thisby from the Scorpio Races!

    1. Yes. Just being a spectator would be so cool.
I’ve seen Thisby get mentioned a few times. I really need to get to reading the Scorpio Races next year. I have it on my shelf so no excuses really. πŸ˜€
