You might remember from last year and the mention in my monthly wrap ups that I joined Beat the Backlist 2017. This challenge was all about reading the books that were published before 2017, the so called backlist books as new releases are so often prioritized.
For 2018 this challenge is brought back! And of course I am joining. There are some changes. There is still the challenge aspect but not the House Cup. And some things are simplified when it comes to submitting points. So if that was a reason to not join in on the challenge aspect last year, things will be much easier this time around. I’m looking forward to it.
Main Goal
This year I am going to focus on a certain amount of books I’d like to read for this challenge. I am going to settle on 40 books this year. A little less than last year but who knows what next year will bring, right?
Extra Goal
I also want to join in on the fun of the bookstagram challenges. Every Thursday we have a prompt to post a picture for. All the prompts for the full year are already known which I love as I am a planner.
Team
Like last year I do want to participate in the competitive part of the challenge. This time around I can’t choose my own team. You are asinged a team once you have submitted your sign up post. When I know I will edit this post to show it and I will show it in the sidebar most likely.
Edit: I am a NovelKnight!
TBR
Here are some potential backlist reads for next year.
- The Empty Grave by Jonathan Stroud
- Invictus by Ryan Graudin
- The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
- Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb
- Revocatie by Jurgen Snoeren
- Stone of Farewell by Tad Williams
- The Cuckoo’s Calling by J.K. Rowling
- A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers
- Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray
Good luck!! I like the choices you posted, should be some interesting reading 🙂

I should sign up again for this, as this year I only managed to read 20 out of all my backlist books. 😂

I am so excited to be able to do this this year! The IG prompts sound wonderful! A Closed and Common Orbit is on my list, too. I am happy they decided to do this again. 💜
