School is something that is slowly inching itself forward for some of you. Some might even already have started. Which is why top ten tuesday, as always created by The Broke and the Bookish, decided to give us a back to school freebie.
These back to school freebies always have me stumped. I haven’t gone to school since 2011 when I graduated for my bachelor, and so I tend to have little creative juices when it comes to this topic. Even so, I settled on finding some books with a high school setting that turn into an adventure. School can still be present in the background or forgotten after the initial start, but even so it is there.
So if you are a student here are some books to start the school year with that will help you spice up your daydreams a little while in school and make your day more exciting. During lunch of course. Only daydream during lunch… š

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C Yee
The Blazing Star by Imani Josey
This Savage Song by V.E. Schwab
The Archived by Victoria Schwab
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Shutter by Courtney Alameda
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever read Percy Jackson, I’ve been meaning to for forever and it never happens. Sigh. Good list though, daydreaming in school is underrated.

Riordan does have a lot of books so that might be daunting. And it is!

I end up picking the same books every year haha.
This list is great, I love your spin on the topic.

Read Percy Jackson at the start of Summer. Seriously read all five books in a week’s time, haha!
Apart from that, I’ve read The Raven Boys, but have yet to read the sequels – which I’ll do during my Sequel September – yay!
Nice list! š

That is great. They are such great reads. I’m slowly picking them up to reread this year.
Thank you.

I`ve been meaning to read Percy Jackson forever. I know I`ll love it, but I don`t know what`s putting me off.

Sometimes high expectations is what keeps us back from picking up certain books. I have the same with some.

Haha I have the same creative troubles when it comes to these back to school topics, since it’s already been 10 years since I graduated š But I love your take on the topic, nothing spices up school as much as a good little adventure š

I loved the The 5th Wave so much! I haven’t read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief but loved the movie š

Ah don’t let Rick Riordan hear you say that. š He has a bit of a beef with the movies.

Haha! I didn’t know that!

Ooooh– This is a really interesting take on the TTT theme! I do love books which start in one setting and turn into something completely different. I’ve only read three books on your list: Percy Jackson, The Blazing Star, and The 5th Wave. Which of the remaining would you recommend I pick up next?

I certainly think that Genie Lo is the best. It is one of my current favorites. Shutter turns a bit towards horror but if you don’t mind that I think it is a great read!

Of these I’ve read Percy Jackson, The Archived and The Raven Boys, all great books!

I bought Shutter last year to read with Halloween but hadn’t gotten around to reading it yet, so I save it for this upcoming Halloween. And the Archived by V.E. Schwab is on my wishlist, I’m very curious about that one!

Oh yes, read Shutter this October. It is a great read for that time of year.

Haha helemaal waar. Je kan natuurlijk niet alles onthouden. š

So much yes to The Raven Boys! You are really good at thinking of lists that are a little bit different than the prompt. š
