March overall was a good month for me mood wise with the sun, even though Merijn was not a great sleeper some nights and mornings. Book wise it was also a good reading month with perhaps a bit too much book buying again. Let us not even talk about pre orders.
The Reading Challenge
The Numbers
# Read 60 Books
Read this month: 7
Total: 22/60
- A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic 3) by V.E. Schwab – 5 stars
- The Young Elites (The Young Elites 1) by Marie Lu – 2,5 stars
- The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastards 1) by Scott Lynch – 4 stars
- The Reborn King (Dragon’s Blade 1) by Michael R. Miller – 3,5 stars
- The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase by Greg Cox – 3,5 stars
- Ink and Bone (The Great Library 1) by Rachel Caine – 3 stars
- American Gods (American Gods 1) by Neil Gaiman – 3 stars
Not too bad considering that A Conjuring of Light and The Lies of Locke Lamora were over 500 pages. I feel I deserve a pat on the back for picking up some big books, haha.
The TBR and Backlist Challenge
# Unread Books
Total unread books on shelf start of March – 143 -1 (unhauled) = 142
Books read in March (that count) – 5
Books bought/received in March (no ebooks, classics) – 8
Total unread books on shelf end of March – 145
I was doing so well this month until the last week or so. Aaaah! I also have a bunch of pre orders out for May. Oops.
Backlist books read in March – 5
Total – 16/50
Still doing well. The majority of what I read each month are backlist books so that is great.
How Was March for Me?
⌘ We had elections here in the Netherlands and while the rest of the world seems pleased that Wilders and his populism was not the biggest party I am however not. He still grew. He still gained followers. He was still the second biggest party in the country. Yes, he will not rule as nobody wants to be in a coalition with him, but I feel this still tells plenty about our country. I’m dissapointed.
⌘ I went to the Boekenfestijn and next to getting some books I also got these great two Harry Potter mugs. My life is complete now, haha.
⌘ Bloglovin’ seems to have added the feature that you can now see who has read your post versus just seeing who saved or liked it on the website. It is interesting to see. But I also heard some other things about bloglovin’ now hosting your post on their site? What are your opinions on that? Do you use bloglovin’?
⌘ And of course wordpress had to change things again. The sidebar when I’m working on a post went from left to right. And I am still not used to that. I don’t understand the point of it either.
⌘ I got a third bookshelf. See me be smug about it.
⌘ The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and Merijn has been waking up at the dawn of time (and let us not forget those times he woke up in the middle of the night). To say I am a bit tired would be an understatement. But at least he’s cute so I guess there is that.
⌘ You know I never thought of myself as a good cook. But I cook for Merijn and he gives such a reward to your efforts. He eats almost everything. I recently made a pasta with tomatoes, chicory and a small bit of grated cheese for him (no herbs yet) and he loved it so much. I almost feel like a good cook, haha.

⌘ Merijn also turned 7 months. Time flies when baby’s grow up.
⌘ Speaking of age, my husband turned 30 on the last day of March. He is not pleased with this number and my parents love teasing him about it. We’ll be celebrating his birthday the day this post goes up.
⌘ The weather has been fairly great here the last week and a half or so. As in we did not neat a coat when going outside in the afternoon. It almost felt Summer, so warm it was at moments. Which is great but I’m waiting of the weather to take a bad turn this April. Because that is bound to happen. The sunny weather does make me more relaxed.
⌘ I did my first stomach and back yoga excercises last Monday. Oh my, my lower stomach around my scar hurt so much the next days, haha. I guess that means it works.

What Did I Watch?
⌘ Brother Bear 2 / Movie
I thought it was okay. I know I’ve seen the first movie but for the life of me cannot remember much about it. I’m just not that into bears I guess.
⌘ Big Hero 6 / Movie
I actually liked this a lot better than I thought I would. It is cute but it also has its depth in places.
⌘ Flash / Season 1 / Episode 21-23 / Finished
Aaah we finished. I hate it when seasons end on cliffhangers. Now we have to buy season 2…
⌘ Supernatural/ Season 11 / Episode 8 to 23 / Finished
I’m getting back into this a bit more. Some episodes are clearly more filler though and didn’t add that much. But others were fairly great again. Mostly I just enjoy Dean. Haha.
⌘ Defiance / Season 3 / Episode 1-2
This start was a bit all over the place. So we haven’t watched on since. I have this with Falling Skies as well. The first two episodes are always so tricky with these shows.
⌘ The Good Dinasour / Movie
I was bored. The relationship between the human and the dinasour was cute though.

What Is Up Next Month?
⌘ I’ll be doing two buddy reads this one. Talon with a member of Books Ever After over on Goodreads and Wintersmith with La La in the Library! Books Ever After is also reading Stalking Jack the Ripper as thriller of the month and I’ll be reading along as well.
⌘ My parents will be here at the start of the month. Other than that I don’t really know what April will bring me. Hopefully some more blogging time to be honest.
⌘ Blogging wise I have planned in posts but I’m not as far ahead as I would like to be. I’m trying to be more organized though. Writing out what I want in a post in between Merijn moments so when I do get a moment behind the computer I can just type away.
Linking Up
The Sunday post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This is a bit of a recap post of the week (or month) where you can link to the posts you made this week, share news and wrap up your reading.
You’ve got some good reads there. I’ve been curious about Ink and Bone. And I hear you on the elections. Obviously us unfortunates in the States are having a rather rough go with our new leader lol. And I think the Bloglovin thing got fixed?
I’m on Flash season 2 but haven’t watched in ages. I got sidetracked with some of the other shows… so many shows, so little time. 🙂
Yay for a new bookshelf. 🙂

I was kind of dissapointed with Ink and Bone to a point.
You’d think we’d have learned from you guys, but nope.

Thanks. I’m so happy with it!

Two books over 500 pgs, that definitely counts for extra 😉 Nice mugs!
I feel like people are overreacting about bloglovin. They always had our posts available to view on their site. It just depends on your settings as the viewer as to whether you view the post in the bloglovin thing or on the original site. And I’m pretty sure the reason they added comments is because they are making themselves into a blogging platform—you can publish posts directly on there now. So I don’t think the comments were a malicious thing meant to harm bloggers.
Haha, that’s awesome that Merijn makes you feel like a good cook, and happy bday to your husband!

Right? Haha. 500+ is basically two books. 😉
I agree. I didn’t really get the outrage. I don’t care about the commenting because most just come to the site to comment anyway. But I like seeing who don’t comment but do read through the bloglovin’ reader.
Thanks. 😀

I wasn’t a huge fan of The Good Dinosaur, Pixar can really be hit or miss unfortunately. But I did enjoy Big Hero Six more than I thought I would, it was actually quite sweet.

I’ve often enjoyed Pixar but that one was just such a bore.

Populism and nationalism seem to be growing in power. Of course we have a populist nationalist crazy man in the White House for the next four years. The trend is definitely worrying. 😦
The book event sounds cool. Nice Harry Potter mugs. Also adorable picture of your baby!
I’ve got Wires and Nerve on my TBR pile and hope to get to it soon. I love Iko and miss the Lunar Chronicles series and its characters.
I’m enjoying season three of The Flash though I still think the first season was the best. I need to get caught up on the latest episode.
Hope you have a great week and thanks for visiting my blog.

It really is worrying. It makes me sad too because you would think we’d have learned from our history by now.
Oh read Wires and Nerve soon. It is such a quick read. 😀

I’ve been meaning to read The Lies of Locke Lamora forever. I wanted to get to American Gods before the T.V. series comes out, but I don’t think I’ll be able to. I preordered a few books myself recently. I’ve heard some negative things about bloglovin too. I’m not savvy enough to know exactly what’s going on, but I ended up changing my RSS feed to summary instead of full text. Hope you enjoy your April!

I really ended up liking Locke Lamora.
Yeah, me neither but I’ve been told the issue has been fixed now.

Merjin is adorable! I loved that age though they change so fast if you blink it feels like you missed something. What an adventurous eater he sounds like he is! He sounds fun to cook for. Happy birthday to your husband! Have a great week!

It is really fast. Just last week I was looking at him and he looked so much older all of a sudden.
Thank you!

Oh, Annemieke. You DO deserve pats on the back. Two 500 page books? One of them was Locke Lamora with grumpy me. I do apologize for being so annoyed with the book. It definitely wasn’t for me at all. Hopefully, our next readalong will be fun. I’ll try harder. *Hugs*
I love Big Hero 6, too. It’s very sweet. Which character did you identify with most? I like Honey Lemon most. Would have liked Baymax to be real, so I can get hugs from it (Him? Gender is hard with technology).
CONGRATS ON THE BIG BLUE BOOKCASE! Triumph. *Applauds*
Wow. You are such a hard worker, and I am so proud of you and your lovely family for making such wonderful contributions. Your blog is just incredible and you post great content. Very inspiring. And, the best contribution of all is wee Merijn who is going to be one heck of a kid.
Lots of love for you.
Thank you for being a buddy of mine.

Haha. No worries and you don’t need to try harder. Next time I hope we can pick a book that you do like. ❤
I think I could understand the mc the most in Big Hero 6 from my background.
Aaaaw. Stop, I'm blushing. ❤

You know what I think we should strive for? Not having less books on the shelf at the end of the month, but the same number. Ha! I think this Merijn picture is my favorite so far! Those eyes melt my heart. You know, the sun does help so much. I think that was why I was so happy in our old apartment; we had high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows in the living room. My mood changer is to be able to have the windows open. Even a squidge makes me happy because I love fresh air. 🌞
My favorite Bookstagram photo of yours this month is the glasses shelfie. I cannot wait to start Wintersmith! I am thrilled you are feeling better. Have a sunshine filled week. 🌞

Haha I think that would be a good strive for me. 😀 Yeah sun helps so much. It looks drairy out now, bleh. Oh yes high ceilings and those kind of windows are great (through preferred at the back and not the front of the house in my case, I already dislike our enormous windows, haha).
Yeah I actually really liked how that turned out. 😀

Aww Merijn is SO CUTE THOUGH. And I’m glad he loves your food!! My nieces are so fussy about food haha I just basically am glad if they even eat what I cook when I’m looking after them. 😂 And YAY MORE BOOKSHELVES!! LUCKY YOU! I seriously need more shelves but I also have no more space so obviously I should just take over my sister’s room too, right? 😉 And yesss that you loved Locke Lamora!! MY FAVOURITE BOOK.😍😍
(Also thanks so much for sharing my posts! YOU ARE SO KIND. ❤ )

I support the take over of your sisters room. Everything must move for books. 😉
