(Biweekly) Sunday Post #38

The Sunday post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This is a bit of a recap post of the week where you can link to the posts you made this week, share news, and even what you have been reading. Some categories might change per Sunday.

Look at my new pillow!

Personal

This Sunday is the last day of my husband’s vacation. Part of me is glad I’ll be able to do my own stuff again (schedule cleaning the house and getting to blog ahead) but I’ll miss having him around daily. Now that he will go back to work on Monday his manager has his 3 week vacation and so he will have to work extra hours most likely. I won’t get to see him as much.

We didn’t get to do too much in the last two weeks. Mostly because pregnancy tiredness and all has been hitting me pretty hard. But the baby is doing fine so that is good. Last week we had a lot of rain and stormy weather though luckily we didn’t get any of the flooding other areas of the country had to deal with.  My husband decided last minute to change the bathroom around so he worked a lot on that and is doing some of the final touches this weekend.

At Waterstones Amsterdam

Last week was also the last evening of volunteering before Summer break. I don’t think I mention it here, but once every two weeks on Thursday evening I volunteer at a group/cafe type of things for people with intellectual dissabilities. It is fun. The volunteers are great too. We ended with a bbq like we do every year.

This week the weather was better. Of course not on Monday when we went to Amsterdam. Had to visit some English book stores there, haha. And we went to Breda on Wednesday. We went to a museum and a book store that is inside a theatre that I wanted to see.

Friday I knocked one my small faerie statues of my shelf. Sad face. It was completely shattered so no chance on glueing it together again like last time when the cat knocked it off. But my husband has ordered me a new one because he thought it was a shame. So cute. I have no idea what kind of faerie it is. But that’s okay because it is the thought that counts. ❤

In July I’ll be participating in the make me read it read-a-thon. Could you all please vote in the poll what books I should read? The post you can find here.

Next to that right now I am participating in the read-a-ton for my Dutch Goodreads group Books Ever After which is fun too.

I’m having so much trouble with wordpress lately, it is really sucking all the fun out of blogging. It freezes, refuses to work, refuses to plan in blogs, refuses to save, refuses to put in links. It also keeps saying about a script failing or something? Anyone else having problems? Granted, my laptop is a piece of shit as well. I might make the last bookshelf tour post on our main computer since it takes too long on this one. See if that is any better.

One of the Dutch publishers, Blossom Books, is going to release all of Marissa Meyer’s books in Dutch! Starting with Heartless in November. And they are rereleasing Cinder and Scarlet that were previously released by another Dutch publisher, but they stopped. So they are taking those over and continueing on with The Lunar Chronicles in Dutch. It’s pretty great because I know a lot of Dutch readers have been asking for that.

  1. We haven’t had much rain and it’s getting a little dry. It’s been hot here. Glad you weren’t affected by any of the flooding.

Nice to hear that Marissa Meyer’s books are coming out in Dutch. Have a good reading week, and hopefully the WordPress troubles go away…

    1. We only had a few days of hot inbetween all the rain. Summer has started but it doesn’t quite feel like it yet.

I hope so too. Have a great week as well.

  2. I had some WordPress problems a while ago, where it just wouldn’t save my posts and nothing happened when I clicked the buttons. I’ve written a lot of posts in advance though, so the only one I wrote this week, was this week’s Sunday Post, without any troubles this time.

Your Terry Pratchett collection looks amazing!

    1. It is so annoying. It is planning in better now, but I still have my fingers crossed each time I have to click the button, haha. I’m glad I already have a lot of posts in advance too. Less worries. 😉

      Thank you. ❤ I love them~

  3. Yes, trying another computer would give you an indication as to whether it is wordpress.com or your laptop. Sorry about the fairy but yes your husband is a doll. I know what you mean about them being home and loving it, but it does throw a wrench into our routine!

    1. Yeah, after replying to comments I’m going to see if it is better on the main computer. I think it might be. Yes, and now I’m struggling to get back into my normal routine, haha.

  4. What a lovely long holiday your husband has had…so nice to get that time together. I don’t have problems with WordPress on my laptop but it’s terrible on my iPad where it is always crashing. A nuisance as it’s my preferred method of getting online!

    1. Yes, three weeks as his Summer vacation. 🙂
That is annoying. I don’t have any problems with the app on my iPod. I like to use it to read through the reader and comment more than through the browser.

  5. Oh my goodness you look like you are ready to pop! It is weird because Blogger has been being all wonky, too. It keeps telling me I have broken code and makes a new “draft” every time I add to the post I am editing, or if I update an old post. We have a cafe in our city like the one you volunteer at. I love having lunch there. That’s so sweet of your hubby to order you a new faerie. I hope you enjoy getting back to your normal schedule, but it is not nice that your husband will have to be gone more. Have a wonderful week. 🙂

    1. Haha, yeah the midwife says it’s because I’m so short.
Ugh, that sounds even more annoying. I hope that gets fixed soon.
It’s not quite like that cafe, though I know those kind of lunchroom/cafe as well. This is really a cafe aimed at them where they can come together, drink, chat. We have themed evenings and a dart tournament.

      1. Except we aren’t a social center. Our group of volunteers keep it going and we hire a space somewhere every two weeks on a Thursday evening. The same space mostly. Some of the volunteers have been doing it for over 5 years now and we aren’t attached to any organization anymore. We arrange everything ourselves.

  6. I absolutely love that pillow! It looks like your cat loves it too lol. I’m glad that you and the baby are happy and healthy, I’m sure as much as you miss spending time with your hubby he’s feeling the same. Enjoy your week and happy reading!

    1. This was all spread over 2 weeks so that helps with taking rests inbetween. 😉 My body really protests heavily when I do too much or put my socks on, haha.
It is but also annoying to have to wait and not know exactly when the baby is going to come, haha. Zero patience here.

  7. Glad the pregnancy is going well and you should make sure you take it easy. I’m not married or partnered but my friends often comment on their partners in a similar way – nice to have them around, but miss being able to do their own thing when they’re usually at work.

    PS. Love the cat cushion!

    1. I’m doing my best. 🙂
Yeah, you get so used to having your own routine, especially if you are home alone most of the time. I’m struggling to get back into my normal routine now, And you kind of develop a routine with them when they are home every day for 3 weeks where you spend as much time together and stuff. So little room for your own stuff.

  8. Sorry about the faerie statue :-/ But aww, how sweet that your husband is ordering you a new one ❤

And sorry about WP acting up. I get that script failing pop-up like all the time because the laptop I'm using is old and kinda slow, so I know how annoying it is.

But I'm glad the baby is still doing well, and the museum and bookstore trip sounds like it was fun 🙂 Have a great week!

    1. I’m really curious to see what kind of faerie he ordered, haha.

It is annoying. This laptop is only 2 years old though, though I suppose that can be considered an old computer for some. But I always struggle with laptops. Maybe I don’t take good enough care of them, haha.

Have a great week as well, Kristen!

      En graag gedaan. ❤
