Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, where we get a bookish prompt to create a top ten for.
So this week the topic is Ten Books To Read If You Like This Super Popular Book/Author. It means we have to make readalike suggestions in any way we personally prefer. I found this a bit hard because I personally don’t like to compare too much, and I always think about how different some books are from each other. But it is mostly meant to put some lesser known books and authors up for attention so I’ll have a go. Not all of these are lesser known, but I do feel they deserve more attention. I ended up drawing a blank at six.
1 If you like Rick Riordan try Jonathan Stroud
One of the things that I like the most about Rick Riordan are his characters and the humor he uses. These are two things that Jonathan Stroud is also particular good at. Lockwood & co is a good starting point to his work. If you enjoy darker books than Bartimaeus series is a good place to start.
2 If you liked Seraphina by Rachel Hartman try Eon by Alison Goodman
Both these books have dragons in the centre. They are both also duologies. How often does that happen?
3 If you enjoyed the writing of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern try The Golem and the Djinni by Helene Wecker
Though the topics are very different while I was reading The Golem and the Djinni I felt that the writing reminded me of The Night Circus. Both weaved various story lines together, and it felt magical in places.
4 If you enjoyed The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams give Rarity from the Hollow by Robert Eggleston a go
Both are sci-fi and have satire elements.
5 If you enjoy Stephen King, try Dutch author Thomas Olde Heuvelt
Stephen King is known for his thrillers, but Thomas Olde Heuvelt sure knows how to give you nightmares with his books, like the second half of Hex (which will be out in English next year).
6 If you enjoy the high fantasy of Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch try the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima
With both series I really enjoyed the the world, but also the characters.
I adored the Bartimaeus books, I thought Nathaniel was a complex character. The book’s magic system was also different from usual, so I really enjoyed it. 🙂 These are great recommendations! I’m also having difficulty writing mine this week.

Thank you. Yeah, Nathaniel was a great character. He is one of my favorites for that reason.
It’s a difficult topic. I tried going with one author but I could only think of one or two recommendations then. 😦

I just realised that I haven’t read any of these books besides Seraphina. More books to be added to the TBR list! 🙂

I’ve heard the Riordan books are funny, and heard too that Seraphine is good. Haven’t read either, but I am trying the new Riordan coming out soon…

They really can be, though I do have a slight preference towards Strouds humor in the Bartimaeus series. Seraphina is really good!
I’m really curious about the new Riordan book. I’ve been hearing good things so far!
